Floy Arnhart

Floy V. Arnhart, 84, of Kennett, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Dec. 3, 1917, in Dardenelle, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sylvia Darter.

She married Orland Criner and James C. Arnhart, who both preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Robert Criner and wife, Alice, of Greenbriar, Ark.; one daughter, Sue Hemann and husband, Ralph, of Kennett; five grandchildren, Darron and Jim Hemann, Christi Jones and Matthew and Carrie Criner and four great-grandchildren, Holly and Devin Jones and Ethan and Ashton Criner.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Lanning officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark.

Kenneth Battles, Sr.

Kenneth W. Battles, Sr., 60, of Doe Run, Mo., died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at his residence.

Born Nov. 19, 1941, in Dunklin County, son of Lorene Clark Battles, of St. Louis County, Mo. and the late William F. Battles, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a boilermaker and a member of the Boilermakers Local 27.

He married Carol Battles, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth W. Battles, Jr.

Survivors also include three brothers, Ted Battles, of Arnold, Mo, Tom Battles and wife, Sue, of Houston, Texas and Jack Battles, of Dallas, Texas and four sisters, Barb Battles, of Bloomfield, Mo., Brenda Anderson and Billie Battles, both of Pahrump, Nev. and Betty Battles, of St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the Dietrich-Mothershead Chapel in DeSota, Mo. with the Rev. Matt Cornforth officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at DeSoto.

Betty Buys

Betty Buys, 78, of Kennett, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Evans officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Sophia Edwards

Sophia Helen Edwards, 90, of Lilbourn, Mo., died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare in New Madrid, Mo.

Born Sept. 13, 1911, in Obion, Tenn., daughter of the late N.E. and Mary Berry Morgan, she was of the Baptist faith.

On May 8, 1926, in Essex, Mo., she married Aaron Edwards, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1979. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Carol and Tommy Rudd and Tammy Gail Edwards; one great-grandchild, Brandy Michelle Wimberly and one brother, J.L. Morgan.

Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie Rudd, of Alton, Mo., Maxine Kinsey, of Campbell, Mo. and Merle Baler, of Vinta, Okla.; four sons, Ed Edwards, of Winamac, Ind., J.B. Edwards, of San Diego, Calif., Doyle Edwards, of Sikeston, Mo. and Roy Edwards, of Lilbourn; 31 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Todd officiating.

Burial will follow at the Taylor Cemetery in Essex, Mo.

Pallbearers were the grandsons and great-grandsons.

Dennis Holsten

Dennis Scott Holsten, 34, of Campbell, Mo., died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at St. Louis, Mo.

Born Feb. 12, 1968, in Badkrausnack, Germany, son of Dennis Holsten, of Campbell and Sue Massey, of Campbell, he was an electronic technician and attended the South Canaan General Baptist Church.

Survivors also include, one brother, Toby Holsten, of Campbell; grandparents, Margie Bagwell and Zula and Lindell Holsten; one nephew, Kody Holsten and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Stub Bagwell.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Allen L. Massey, Sr. officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery-Landess Addition at Campbell.

Donald Lamunion

Donald Ray Lamunion, 64, of Campbell, Mo., died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Feb. 24, 1938, in Campbell, son of the late Raymond and Gladys Vincent Lamunion, he attended the Campbell Assembly of God Church in Campbell and was owner of D&D Sign Co.

On Oct. 26, 1957, in Kennett, he married Diane Holbrook, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Keith Lamunion and wife, Kathy, of Malden, Mo. and Mark Lamunion and wife, April, of Allentown, Pa.; two daughters, Tammy Lamunion and Stephanie Crow and husband, Craig, all of Campbell; four sisters, Wanda Wilburn and Janet Beckham, both of Malden, Bernice Pruiett, of St. Louis, Mo. and Alice Bradshaw, of Campbell; one brother, Richard Lamunion, of Clarkton, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Kody and Kelsi Lamunion, both of Malden, Luke, Emily and Andrew, all of Allentown, Jeremy Lampe, of Malden and Brandy Lampe and Cierra Hefner of Campbell and two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Buie and Madison Lampe, both of Campbell.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larkin Enlow officiating.

Burial will fillow at the Woodlawn Cemetery-Landess Addition in Campbell.

Jewell McClendon

Jewell Douglas McClendon, 75, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.

Born Nov 3, 1926, in Gideon, Mo., son of the late William and Ollie Isabel Bess McClendon, he was a carpenter and a member and former deacon of the Temple Baptist Church.

On April 16, 1948, in Caruthersville, he married Naomi Beatrice McAlpin, who preceded him in death on March 16, 2001. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy; four brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Jim, Nathan and David McClendon, all of Caruthersville; one daughter, Elaine Acord, of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren, Kelly, Kara, Tiffany and Matthew, all of Caruthersville and one great-grandchild, Kelsey, of Caruthersville.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 19, at the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Jerry Harmon officiating.

Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Cecil Johnson, Scott Carter, Vaughn Treece, Billy Hopkins, Tommy Day and Murel Andrews.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.

Wanda Thompson

Wanda Thompson, 82, of St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at her residence.

Born Dec. 9, 1919, in Campbell, Mo., daughter of the late Jess and Mary Josephine Cato Smith, she was of the Baptist faith.

In 1941, at Piggott, Ark., she married William Powell Thompson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1982. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Sue Gucciardo, of St. Louis; two sons, Jim Stewart and Hubert Thompson, both of St. Louis; two sisters, Winnie Veatch, of Campbell and Janelle Blackburn, of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ear D. Dell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.

Taylor Walters

Taylor Marie Walters, 2 days, of Holcomb, Mo., died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born May 17, 2002, at Kennett, she was the daughter of Shawn Aaron Walters, of Kennett and Tina Marie Crane Walters, of Holcomb.

Survivors also include grandparents, Tom and Mary Lou Crane, of Holcomb and Tommy and Shirley Walters, of Kennett; a great-grandmother, Barbara Crane, of Broseley, Mo. and great-grandparents, Jake and Jackie Godfree, of Paragould, Ark.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett with the Revs. Tom Crane and Hubert Robinson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
