Cora Aldridge

Cora Cordia Ray Aldridge, 69, of Doniphan, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002 at Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Oct. 4, 1932, in Holcomb, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William Richard and Effie Wright Ray.

On April 24, 1953, she married Leonard Aldridge, who preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1987. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lavada Smith and Velma Nelson Eddington.

Survivors include one son, Clyde Allen Lape, of Paragould, Ark., one sister, Sybil Stitch, of Delta, Mo.; two nephews, Donald Derek Smith, of Flint, Mich. and Michael Pace, of Texas and one niece, Carmaletia Nelson Bridges, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Ben Jordan officiating.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.

Alvah Cashion

Alvah Cashion, 91, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.

Born Nov. 4, 1910, in Campbell, daughter of the late John Thomas Tucker and Mary Estes Estalee Knotts, she was a homemaker and a member of the Campbell General Baptist Church.

On July 24, 1926, in Piggott, Ark., she married Grover Benjamin Cashion, who preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1977. She was also preceded in death by one son, John (J.T.) Cashion; two daughters, Sharon Wildberger and Lois Coward VanMiddlesworth and three grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Cosette Weitkamp and husband, George, of St. Louis, Mo., Mabel Corwin and husband, Lew, of Waynesville, N.C. and Hazel Abernathy and husband, Jack, of Campbell; two sons, Gene Cashion and wife, JoAnn, of Campbell and Don Cashion and wife, Mary, of Weir, Kan..; one sister, Ruby Sullivan, of Campbell and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with Pastor Earl D. Dell officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Campbell.

Stella Davis

Stella Irene Davis, 87, of Kennett, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at National HealthCare in Kennett.

Born Dec. 17, 1914, she was a nurse and of the Church of Christ faith. Survivors include one son, Fred Davis, of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters-in-law, Jane Stewart, of Dover, Del. and Nanci Buckley Davis, of Omaha; three grandsons, Arthur and Jonathan Davis, both of Dallas, Texas and Ronald Stewart, of Cape Coral, Fla.; one granddaughter, Jo Stewart Penny, of Fort Meyer, Fla. and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Davis and one son, Albert Stewart.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett with Art Smith officiating.

Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.

Rena Doughten

Rena Doughten, 84, of Holcomb, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Mo.

Born July 11, 1918, in Perryville, Tenn., daughter of the late William and Addie Benthal Patterson, she was a homemaker, a member of the New Hope Extension Club and of the Methodist faith.

On Feb. 23, 1935, in Dyersburg, Tenn., she married Guy Doughten, who preceded her in death on July 13, 1967. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Guy Doughterm Jr. and Larry Doughten; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, William, Albert, Andrew and Alton Patterson and one sister, Lillie Mayo.

Survivors include four daughters, Lola Ciscell and husband, Charles and Marilyn Tessaro and husband, Alan, both of DeSoto, Mo., Hattie Blake and husband, Elton, of Greenbrier, Ark. and Carilyn Foster, and husband, Glen, of Holcomb; five sons, William Doughten and wife, Patricia, of Gibson, Mo., Thomas Doughten and wife Lana, of Mesquite, Texas, Marvin Doughten and wife, Debbie, of Kennett, Billy Doughten and wife, Betty, of Paragould, Ark. and Richard Doughten and wife, Kathy, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one sister, Mabel Bishop, of Newbern, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Mary Doughten, of Holcomb; 24 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with Allen Massey officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Keith Hampton

Keith Allen Hampton, 34, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at his residence.

Born Nov. 11, 1967, in Kennett, son of the late Doyle Richard Hampton and Erma Neal Paul Robinson, he was of the Pentecostal faith and worked for Autry Morlan in Malden.

Survivors include four sisters, Betty Ann Tidey and Novella Mullenix, both of Malden, JoAnn Summers, of Kennett and Lisa Lynn Hampton, of Campbell, Mo.; four half-brothers, Waylon Logston, of Anna, Ill. and Doyle Ray, Richard and Paul Hampton, all of Arkansas and three half-sisters, Brenda Boyd, of Piggott, Ark. and Paula and Mary JoAnn Hampton, both of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Doyle Richard Hampton and one half-sister, Amanda Hampton.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery 1st Addition in Malden.

Odie McLeskey

Odie Thresher McLeskey, 91, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Mo.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Brradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with David McElwain officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Ruby Merrell

Ruby Merrell, 89, of Madisonville, Ky., formerly of Rector, Ark., died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Woodland Heights Cecmetery in Rector.

Jimmy Nipper

Jimmy Nipper, 41, of Cardwell, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Jonesboro, Ark.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Arbyrd, Mo.

Mable Roy

Mable Porter Roy, 92, of Campbell, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.

Born Feb. 23, 1910, in Campbell, daighter of the late William A. Sanford and Sallie Todd, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Campbell.

She married George Porter, who preceded her in death and later married Ray Roy, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Ackerman; five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one sister, Jettie Henson Boyt, of Kennett; four nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, aug. 14, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with the Rev. Jeff Gatewood officiating.

Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.

Grady Stricklin

Grady Lee (Bud) Stricklin, 83, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at the Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.

Born April 22, 1919, in Savannah, Tenn., son of the late James Wilson and Ethel Lutts Stricklin, he was in the construction business and a member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church.

On Dec. 27, 1944, in Osceola, Ark., he married Freda L. Posey, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one son, James Stricklin, of Caruthersville; two grandchildren, Amy Stricklin Herren and James Grady Stricklin, both of Caruthersville and four great-grandchildren, James L. Stricklin, II and Landon Emerson Stricklin, Claire Wilson and Steven Riley Herren, all of Caruthersville.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Sue and two brothers, Harold and James Stricklin.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.

Pallbearers were Joe and Joe Allen Pattillo, Jerry Putman, Charles McCoy, Larry Thrasher and Dave Wilkerson.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.

Jeffrey Tucker

Jeffrey Tucker, 38, of Fort Walton, Fla., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Fort Walton.

Jackie Wimberly, 44, of Arbyrd, Mo., died today, Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at her residence.

Leroy Wiseman

Leroy Wiseman, 57, of Steele, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Nov. 23, 1944, in the Half Moon Community, son of the late Wylie and Minnie Irene Rainey Wiseman, he was a laborer and a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Steele.

On Jan. 16, 1993, he married Mildred Ledbetter, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include four sons, Kenneth leroy Wiseman, of Steele, Raymond Harold and Johnathon Edward Wiseman, both of Gosnell, Ark. and Shane Lee Wiseman, of Blytheville, Ark.; four daughters, Sandra Darlene Tomlinson, of Steele, Janie Michelle Dunavin, of Blytheville, Sarah Faye Cameron, of Portageville, Mo. and Shelly Renee' Wiseman, of Holland, Mo.; two step-sons, Danny Ray Fisher, of Osceola, Ark. and Jerry Barham, of Steele; six step-daughters, Teresa Connell, of Steele, Susie Shelton, Patricia Dearing and Carolyn Brown, all of Caruthersville, Donna Barham, of Arizona and Jennie Ferrell, of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, George Wiseman, of Illinois and Bob Shubert, of Texas; three sisters, Lue Ella McLemore, of Concord, Mo. and Irene Fair and Mary Miles, both of Steele and 18 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeremy Damesworth officiating.

Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
