Jim Bruce, 88, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at John J. Pershing Veterans Administration Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
Born Sept. 23, 1913, at Marmaduke, Ark., he was a son of the late John and Sarah Jane Morgan Bruce.
In 1941 at Caruthersville, Mo. he married Anna Martin who preceded him in death in 1969. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Barney, Joe and Leo Bruce and two sisters, Aquilla Brewer and Betty Lorene Hughes.
Survivors include a son, Jim R. Bruce and his wife, Kathy, of Kennett; a daughter, Janie Goodwin and her husband, Terry, of Kennett; a brother, C.J. Bruce of Paragould, Ark.; three grandchildren Claire and Jessica Bruce and Nichole Goodwin Tice and a great-grandson, Corbin Tice.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Bud Evans officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Donnie Bruce, Wayne Bruce, Jamie Bruce, Jimmy Bruce, Bill Anderson and Charles Palmer.
Honorary pallbearer was Sylvester Hutson.

Clois Wan Butler, 87, of Rector, Ark., died Friday, August 16, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.

Loy Dell Downing, 78, of Bragg City, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Iva Viola Farris, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Poplar Bluff.
Born Tuesday, June 1, 1909, in Patrick, Ark., a daughter of the late Brent and Cynthia Stufflebean Deaton, she was a homemaker.
She married Wallace Farris who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, John D. Farris and Holly Farris and one daughter, Susie Tucker.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Farris of Ellsinore, Mo. and Wallace Lee Farris of Imperial, Mo.; five daughters, Marie Brown of Granite City, Ill., Juanita Kent of Wellsville, Mo., Sylvia Meese of Clarkton, Mo., Suedell Talley of Poplar Bluff and Kathy Walker of Ellsinore; a step-brother, Garland Deaton of Steele, Mo.; 32 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with the Rev. Jeremy Damesworth officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
Oneida Stoker Houston
Oneida "Coon" Stoker Houston, daughter of the late Albert P. and Lillie Mae Johnson Stoker, was born December 20, 1919, in Senath, Missouri and passed away August 14, 2002, at the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 82 years.
She was married to Hiram Houston December 31, 1944, in Paragould, Ark., at the East side Baptist Church
After graduation from high school, Oneida attended Draughns Business College in Memphis, Tenn. for two years. She was a bookkeeper for area cotton gins for 50 years. She was Secretary and Treasurer of Lulu Cemetery for 5 years. Mrs. Houston was a member of the First Baptist Church in Senath. She served in the church Choir for many years. She also was a volunteer at Senath Senior Citizen Center and assisted in delivering food to the shut-ins in the community.
Survivors include her husband: Hiram Houston of Senath; one daughter: Janell Mahon of Senath; granddaughter: Michelle Goodwin of Senath; great-grandson: Michael Goodwin of Senath; one sister: Lawanda "Dolly" Jackson of Kennett.
Mrs. Houston is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, A.P. and Bobby Stoker, and three sisters, Wathena French, Nell Whitehead, and Lucille Jones.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 17, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Senath with Rev. Derek Combs officiating. Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery in Senath.

Charles Ray Redden, 54, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1947, at Gideon, Mo. he was a son of Elco Redden of Clarkton, Mo. and Mary Wallace Redden of Steele.
Survivors include his companion, Martha Overman of Steele; step-mother Rosella Redden of Clarkton; daughter, Mary Ann Prince of Clarkton; six brothers, Danny Redden and Donnie Redden of Steele, Carol Glenn Redden of Tyler, Mo., Junior and Kenny Redden of Clarkton and Michael Redden of Number 9 Community, Mo.; four sisters, Mildred Burham of Caruthersville, Glenda Redden of Wardell, Mo., Linda Wellington and Sarah Beth Bailey of Clarkton; and three grandchildren.

William Weston "Pat" Sherwood, 94, of Gideon, Mo., formerly of Clarkton, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Gideon Care Center in Gideon.
Born May 27, 1908, in New Madrid, Mo., son of the late Thomas Weston and Kathryn Ellis Sherwood, he was a cotton ginner and member of First Baptist Church in Clarkton.
On May 18, 1926, in Alton, Mo., he married Sarah Emma Campbell, who survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Lee Howard of Clarkton and Patricia Ann Fletcher and her husband, Jack, of Gideon; seven grandchildren, James Martin Howard of Dexter, Mo., Elizabeth Ann Peck of Scottsdale, Ariz., William Claude Howard of Clarkton, Sallee Forrest of Charleston, Mo., Retha Behr of Key Largo, Fla., Tony Fletcher of Silverthorn, Colo. and Clark Fletcher of Springfield, Mo.; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Teresa Ann Pattillo Waterworth, 36, of Eldon, Mo., and formerly of the Portageville, Mo. and Risco, Mo. area, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at her residence.
Born Aug. 4, 1966, at Waverly, Tenn., she was a daughter of Jerry Cleo Pattillo of Ocoee, Fla. and Betty Ann Baker Pattillo of Clarkton, Mo.
On June 28, 1998 at Eldon, she married Robin Waterworth who survives of Nixa, Mo.
Other survivors include a son, Gabriel Michael Waterworth of Eldon; step-mother, Linda Pattillo of Ocoee; a brother, Shane Pattillo of Winter Garden, Fla.; grandparents Paul and Mary Baker of Clarkton; Irene Baker of Campbell, Mo. and Verna Lee Pattillo of Gideon.

Mary M. Willard, 90, of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at Ridgeview Nursing Home of Malden, Mo.
Born Sept. 4, 1911, at Olmsted, Ill., a daughter of the late Edward and Sarah Estella Chumley Dover, she was a homemaker and attended the Assembly of God Church.
On Nov. 4, 1927, in Piggott, Ark., she married Lawrence Amble Willard who preceded her in death on May 12, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Hubert Willard and Dean Willard; four brothers, Charles, Otis, Paul and Clem Dover and one grandson.
Other survivors include six sons, Troy, Wesley and Coy Willard of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Alva, Bob and Dennis Willard of Campbell; three daughters, Wilma Todd of Perryville, Geraldine Todd of Cape Girardeau and Mary Lou Brooks of Campbell; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
