Loy Dell Downing
Loy Dell Downing, 78, of Bragg City, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born May 21, 1924, in Antoine, Ark., daughter of the late Loyd Elmer and Georgia E. Dyer Golden, she was a postmaster in Bragg City and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bragg City.
On Jan. 23, 1943, she married John V. Downing, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1984. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Billie Joe Golden and three sisters, Evelyn LeBlanc, Dorothy Hooper and Verna Newton.
Survivors include one son, John Michael Downing, of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters, Patti Duncan and Becky Ivie, both of Bragg City; one brother, Mac Golden, of Steele, Mo.; two sisters, Ida Ditto, of Spring, Texas and Eunice Phillips, of Lubbock, Texas and four grandchildren, Shane and Joey Duncan, of Bragg City and Christopher and Emily Downing, of Jefferson City.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Bragg City First Baptist Church with the Revs. O.H. Brooks and Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Shane and Joey Duncan, Christopher and Don Downing, Brett Burton and Tony Chailland.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Bobby Thacker, 57, of Holcomb, Mo., formerly of Campbell, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Campbell.
