David Flanagan

David Houston Flanagan, 44, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Steele, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Bentaub General Hospital in Houston.

Born Sept. 19, 1958, in Sikeston, Mo., son of Bea Jaco Flanagan, of Steele and the late Charles Flanagan, he was a U.S. Army veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his fiance, Cindy Cavenaugh, of Houston; one son, David Houston Flanagan, Jr., of Clarkton, Mo.; one daughter, Susan Flanagan, of Piggott, Ark.; one sister, Deborah Lackey, of Keiser, Ark.; two half-brothers, Charles and Cole Flanagan, both of Steele; one half-sister, Gayla Willett, of Kennett; one granddaughter, Emily Flanagan, of Clarkton and two grandsons, Chris and Brandon, of Piggott.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 18, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Norton officiating.

Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.

Martha Taylor

Martha Gertie Taylor, 100, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Malden Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 18, 1901, in Senath, Mo., daughter of the late William Louis Palmer and Ollie Lee Dial, she was in farming, a homemaker and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden.

She married William Lanier, who preceded her in death in 1960, Taylor Karnes, who preceded her in death in 1967, Charley Pyle, who preceded her in death in 1980 and Troy Taylor, who preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Joe and Van Lanier, a daughter-in-law, Adell Lanier and a great-grandson, Jimmy Lanier.

Survivors include one son, Glenn Lanier, of New Madrid, Mo.; two daughters-in-law, Ivy Lanier, of Florissant, Mo. and Lorene Kilhofner, of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Barbara Livonia, of DeRidder, La., Pat Murphy, of Chesterfield, Mo., Jim and David Lanier, both of Florissant, Wayne Lanier and Nancy Robertson, both of Lawrenceville, Ala., Susan Hobbs, of Waxhaw, N.C., Mary Lanier, of Solona Beach, Calif. and Jane Culp, of Clarkton, Mo.; 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Garland officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Pallbearers will be Wayne, David and Jim Lanier, Gary Murphy, Mark Clayton and David Culp.
