Ronald Abmeyer, Sr.Faye Barnes

Faye Barnes, 67, of Kennett, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born July 23, 1935, in Parma, Mo., daughter of the late Narvel Madden and Maude Geary, she was Chapter Representative for the American Red Cross.

She married Robert H. "Bobby" Barnes, who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1977. She was also preceded in death by one son, Sidney "Lee" Barnes, two sisters, Marge Jones and Imogene Stanton and one bother, James Madden.

Survivors include five grandchildren, Shannon Barnes Rodriquez and Christopher and Richie Barnes, all of Kennett, Jamie Barnes, of Montgomery, Ala. and Sidney Barnes, of Lilbourn, Mo. and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Charles James officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett. Pallbearers were James E. Reed, James E. Reed, II, Michael Shipley, Jason Duke and Ronald and Hughey Higgins.

Curtis Beck

Curtis M. Beck, 96, of St. Louis, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Heritage Park Skilled Care Center in Rolla, Mo.

Born July 14, 1906, in Malden, Mo., son of the late Jake and Allie Hampton Beck, he was a truck driver, a lifetime member of the Teamsters Union and a member of the Bayless Baptist Church in St. Louis.

He married Vivian Paul and later married Janette Hambee. Both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Avonell King; two brothers, Dee and Hiram Beck and four sisters, Annie Walters, Mary Dale, Ruby Holtzhouser and Birdie Heck.

Survivors include one son, Buddy Beck and wife, Charlotte, of Fairfax Station, Va.; one step-daughter, Shirley Hambee, of Crocker, Mo.; one sister, Helen Wiggs, of Hilton Head, S.C.; two grandchildren, Debie Corbatto, of Fairfax and Michael Beck, of Colleyville, Texas and four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Nolan and Allie and Zachary Beck.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Ron Shrum officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.

Geneva Brand

Geneva Pauline Brand, 66, of Danville, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Ark.

Born Aug. 27, 1936, in Kennett, daughter of the late Harold Harm and Ella Mae McNew Litaker, she was a homemaker and retired from Wayne Poultry in Danville.

She married Robert William Brand, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one step-son, George Brand; one step-daughter, Betty Abernathy and one sister, Lola Burrows.

Survivors include three sons, Jackie Brand and Roger Brand and wife, Laurie, all of Danville and Keith Brand, of Havana; three step-sons, Emmanuel Brand, of Club, Mo., Ronald Brand, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. and Larry Brand, of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; four step-daughters, Edna Hargate and Dian Keenan, both of Rockford, Ill., Virginia Abernathy, of LaCenter, Ky. and Peggy Corneilson, of Osceola, Fla.; one brother, Buck Litaker, of Danville, Ark.; two sisters, Pearlie Graddy, of Burbon, Mo. and Freda Carter, of Kennett and three grandchildren, Barry, Tabatha and Ryan Brand, all of Danville.

Visitation and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at the Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Charlie Bird officiating.

Burial will be in Kennett.

Charleen Crook

Charleen Crook, 94, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo.

Floyd Decker

Floyd Cleo "Pete" Decker, 66, of Hayti, Mo., died, Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Bowld Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Hayti.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti with the Rev. Paul Quinn officiating.

Wilma Doherty

Wilma Doherty, 61, of Kennett, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

John Ellis Glidwell, 80, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at his residence.

Visitation will be from noon till 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Arbyrd.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at the Lulu Cemetery in Senath, Mo. with the Rev. Troy Alley officiating. Eula Ham

Eula Agnes Ham, 88, of Kennett, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Jan. 8, 1914, in Holcomb, Mo., daughter of the late Roy Lee and Effie Mae Davis Mead, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

On Sept. 24, 1928, in Holcomb, she married Calyou Franklin Ham, who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1985. She was also preceded in death by one son, J.C. Ham and one infant son; three brothers, Robert, James and Samuel Mead and two sisters, Lela Johnson and Virginia Garrett.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Davidson, of Kennett and Peggy Nagy, of Piggott, Ark.; three sons, Lynn Ham, of Ellsinore, Mo., Billy Ham, of Ocala, Fla. and Samuel Ham, of Blytheville, Ark.; one sister, Alice Greer, of Winter Haven, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

C. B. Johnson, 87, of Kennett, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Kennett.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Taylor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Ollie Jones

Ollie Bell Jones, 86, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Hayti.

Born June 12, 1916, in Lexington, Miss., daughter of the late Hill and Meady Tolbert Webster, she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include five daughters, Charlie M. Newman and Irene Landfair and husband, Perry, all of Hayti, Mattie Lee Lacy and husband, Charlie, of Greenwood, Miss. and Shirley Jackson and Nonella Marshall, both of Detroit, Mich.; three sons, James Lee Whitt and wife, Levurta, of Chicago, Ill., Clarence Whitt and wife, Mary, of Pace, Miss. and Raymond Jones and wife, Bonnie, of Cleveland, Ohio; one step-son, Scott Calahand, of Indianapolis, Ind.; 41 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister; six brothers; two daughters. Melna Gregory and Emma Watts and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Church of Christ in Hayti with John Mark Wilson officiating.

Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Clarence Whitt, Jr., Lorenzo and William Harris, Isaac Randle, Randy Landfair and Del Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence and Henry Newman, Perry Brown and Darion Thomas.

Sarah Kelly

Sarah "Ninny" Francis Kelly, 71, of Clarkton, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Dec. 23, 1930, in Friendship, Tenn., daughter of the late Homer Vaughn and Elizabeth Spence Epsey, she was of the Baptist faith.

On Feb. 11, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., she married Vinis "Bud" Kelly, Sr., who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1984.

Survivors include four daughters, Frances Reynolds and husband, Greg, of Clarkton, Dianna Caby and husband, Fred, of Brownwood, Mo., Brenda Berry and husband, Phil, of St. John, Mo. and Lora Emmons and husband, Larry, of Holcomb, Mo.; one son, Vinis "Bo" Kelly, Jr., of Kennett; one sister, Pat Stallard, of Anaheim, Calif., a granddaughter, Tammy Loughary, of Gideon, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.

Pallbearers were Greg Reynolds, Sr., Fred Caby, Phil Berry, Larry Emmons, Junior Loughary and Greg Reynolds, Jr.

Elizabeth Luna

Elizabeth Danielle Luna, 23, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Memphis, Tenn.

Born March 22, 1979, in Hayti, daughter of Linda McLemore, of Hayti and Daniel Luna, of Pascola, Mo., she was a homemaker and a home health worker for Pemiscot County Memorial Health System. She attended Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church at Pascola.

Survivors also include three children April, Randy and Cassie, all of Hayti; her fiance, Steve Bryson, of Hayti; two brothers, Matthew Luna, of Caruthersville, Mo. and Mark Luna, of Braggadocio, Mo.; grandfather, Eugene Alvis, of Hayti and grandmother, Cora Luna, of Pascola.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Mike Tinnin and Pastor Karen Hartung officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Hoss Watkins, Dusty Hendershot, Chris Turnage, Johnny Thrasher and Alex and Jeffrey Drumwright.

Urban Moody

Urban Wayne Moody, 77, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at the Malden Nursing Care Center.

Born Jan. 17, 1925, in Hornersville, Mo., son of the late Urban and Lillian Pleasant Moody, he was advertising manager for Pepsi Cola and a driver for the Dunklin County Transit Services, Inc. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden.

On Jan. 10, 1943, in Malden, he married Wilma Price, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two daughters, Janice Divine and husband, Mike, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Sharon Lee and husband, Larry, of Eldon, Mo.; two sons, Bill Moody and wife, Pamela, of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Mark Moody, of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Bessie Hawley, of Alabama; one brother, Curt Moody, of Malden; six grandchildren, Heather Davis, Nicholas Divine, Chris, Craig and Corey Lee and Robbie Moody and five great-grandchildren, Trenton Davis and Dustin, Chelsea, Amanda and Chris Lee.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Jewell Moody and one sister, Roberta Barnes.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 24, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Scott Keller officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.

Alpha Newman

Alpha Aline Newman, 82, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow at the McGrew Cemetery in Senath.

Irene Rhoades

Irene Rhoades, 83, of Lockport, Ill., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Silver Cross Hospital in Lockport.
