Shane Carnell

Phillip Shane Carnell, 28, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Kennett, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.

Born Oct. 10, 1974, in Kennett, son of Phil and Erma Keown Carnell of Kennett, he was employed at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisville.

Survivors also include one grandmother, Katie Carnell, of Kennett; two sisters, LaDawn Dawson and Kim Robinson, both of Kennett; one nephew, Cody Dawson, of Kennett and three nieces, Heather Dawson and Taylor and Cassidy Robinson, all of Kennett.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Arvel Carnell, and Alpha Nall and James Keown.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Kenneth Carnell and Ricky Williams officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Mark, Phillip and David Carnell, Donnie Jones, Brandon Smith and Fred Parker.

Honorary pallbearers were Walter Hourd, Roger and Steve Smith and Jason Montgomery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Stella Costephens

Stella Costephens, 85, of Holcomb, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Jessie Fowler

Jessie Elsaline Fowler, 68, of Kennett, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2003, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Sept. 23, 1934, in Success, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Hazel Brooks Fowler. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Emery Fowler.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Fowler of Jonesboro; two sisters, Freda Fowler of Memphis, Tenn. and Lola Pinkley of Blytheville, Ark.; two grandchildren, Nathan and Connor Fowler; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Anthony Hogue officiating.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were Gilbert Pinkley, Jack McGaughlin, Gary Pritchett, James Waynick, James Johnson and Doug Milburn.

Pauline Jones

Pauline Jones, 90, of Kennett, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Heritage Nursing Center of Kennett.

Born April 9, 1912, at Caruth, Mo., a daughter of the late Nofflett Jones and Melissa Jane Miles Wagster, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Kennett.

On Jan. 2, 1938, she married Leland Carl Jones who preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a half-sister, Pearl O'Conner.

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Malone of Kennett; two grandchildren, Holly Sutton of Kennett and Jan Greer of Colliersville, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Sutton and Jacob and Jordan Greer.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were Glenn Cannon, Jr., Mark Cannon, Tony Cannon, Gary Wilcoxson, Damon Richardson and Gerald Gentry.

Ray McBride

Ray O. McBride, 53, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital in Beaver Dam, Wis.

Born Oct. 22, 1949, in Kennett, he was the son of the late Jack and Lucy Gibbins McBride. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Connie Renee McBride and Jackie Osborne.

Survivors include eight children, Ed McBride of Sac City, Iowa, Tammy Johnson of Slater, Iowa, Glen McBride of Cardwell, Mo., Amanda McBride and Carrie Rehtze of Stevens Point, Wis., Theresa McBride of Madison, Wis., Ray McBride Jr., of Horicon and Jack McBride of Cambria, Wis.; one sister, Carl Dean Davidson of Cardwell; and eight grandchildren.

There will be no funeral service, cremation took place. Arrangements by Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria.

James Roberts

James Edward Roberts, 72, of Clarkton, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Nov. 25, 1929, at Holland, Mo., a son of the late James Franklin and Minnine Angline Howell Roberts, he was a member of Lynn Oak General Baptist Church at Clarkton.

On April 5, 1954, in Chicago, Ill., he married Sarah Nell Smith who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Peggy Alford, Cincinnati, Ohio and Brenda Greddy and husband, Ricky, of Corning, Ark.; five sons, Danny Roberts and wife, Shirley, of Nashville, Tenn., Terry Roberts and wife, Debra, of Terrell, Texas, Lee Roberts and wife, Tina, Larry Roberts and Michael Roberts all of Clarkton; three sisters, Ruby Darby and Shirley Richardson both of Clarkton and Willie Davis of Holcomb, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers David Roberts and Joseph Roberts and two sisters, Opal Statum and Patricia Roberts.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 5, in Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Revs. Jack Allen and Bill Orr officiating.

Burial will be in Lynn Oak Cemetery at Clarkton.

Ambress Thrasher

Ambress Thrasher, 86, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

Born May 6, 1916, in Campbell, a son of the late Oliver and Rosella Chumley Thrasher, he was a retired carpenter. He was a Protestant.

On May 9, 1934, in Campbell, he married Myra Irene Duncan who preceded him in death Nov. 25, 1994. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Darlene Thrasher, three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Todd of Campbell, Loretta Cartee of Risco, Mo., and Glenda Armitage of Piggott, Ark.; two sons, Donald Thrasher of St. Francis, Ark. and Ambress Thrasher, Jr., of Arlington, Texas; one brother, J.D. Thrasher of Malden; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 5, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel of Campbell

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Loyd Cemetery at Holcomb.

Sarah West

Sarah West, 88, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Healthcare Systems in Hayti.
