Peggy Abmeyer

Peggy S. Abmeyer, 76, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Nov. 24, 1926, in Kennett, she was a daughter of Roy E. and Maddie Irene Easley Tharp.

On Aug. 29, 1942, in Kennett, she married Orville Abmeyer who survives of the home.

Survivors also include a daughter, Gail Sue Payne of St. Francis, Ark., a daughter-in-law, Donna Abmeyer of Kennett; three sisters, Wanda Miller of Kennett, Gennie Lyle of Winter Haven, Fla. and Judy Maddox of Wappapello, Mo.; six grandchildren, Ronald O. Abmeyer, Jr., Letraonna Kaye Gentry, Lesia Angeliquie Willett, Kimberly Gail Sue Polen, Laticia Machelle Mueller and Ristel D. Payne, II; 13 great-grandchildren, J.J., Ashley, and Hannah Willett, Tyler, Travis and Tanner Gentry, Trey and Lara Lea Abmeyer, Kelsey and Kaycie Polen, Zachary and Makeala Mueller and Ristel Payne, III.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Abmeyer, Sr.; two brothers, Ogwin and Wallace Tharp and one sister, Maciel Tharp.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Richard Ross, Charles "Tommy" Crawford, Jim Blankenship, Mike Shannon, Jim Dale Crum, Charles "Chuck" Willett, Chase Willett and Brian Smith.

Donna Adams

Donna Sue Adams, 65, of Risco, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at the Missouri Delta Hospital in Sikeston, Mo.

Born Jan. 2, 1938, in Risco, daughter of the late William F. and Minnie Gilbow Warth, she was a member of the Pleasant View General Baptist Church.

In June, 1979, in Risco, she married Hershel Leroy Adams, who preceded her in death in March, 1988. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nevel Ornder and Mary Klutts.

Survivors include one brother, William "Bill" Warth and wife, Maxine, of Risco; three sisters, Margaret Williams, of Booneville, Ind., Martha Cook, of St. Charles, Mo. and Bernice Welch and husband, Ray, of Redding, Calif. and 14 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Alice Arant

Alice Geneva Arant, 65, of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Aug. 3, 1937, in Tennessee, daughter of Dessie May Biggs, of Bragg City, Mo. and the late John Thomas Sanders, she was of the Baptist faith.

On Sept. 18, 1987, she married Lonzo Murl Arant, who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one brother.

Survivors also include five sons, Chester Smith, of Bragg City, Kenny Hudgens, of Mountain View, Mo., Loy Andrew and Dewey Odell Hudgens, both of Illinois and Billy Joe Hudgens, of Alabama; four daughters, Dorothy Copeland, of Hayti, Alice Hudgens, of St. Louis, Mo., Melissa Ann Hudgens, of East St. Louis, Mo. and Cynthia Wimberly, of Ripley, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny lee officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Randy Henson, Joe, Randy, Brian and Eric Luye and Cecil Biggs.

Pearl Barnett

Pearl Mae Barnett, 85, of Nashville,Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at a nursing home in Nashville.

Daughter of the late Ed and Tina Adkins Sessums, she was a member of the Arbyrd Church of Christ and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.

Survivors include her children, Bettye K. Jones, of Old Hickory, Tenn., Dorothy Hilderbrand, Paul Jones and Peggy Williamson, all of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Tiny Jones, of Cullman, Ala.., Bobby Jones, of Lithonia, Ga., Hazel Rands, of Hermitage, Tenn. and Geraldine Bradley, of Bloomington, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Wayne Jones.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Arbyrd, Mo.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Juanita Berry

Juanita Marie Berry, 72, of Gideon, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Jan. 25, 1931, in Truman, Ark., daughter of the late Hershel and Ethel Wells Hill, she attended the Bethel Asembly of God Church in Gideon.

On Jan. 22, 1949, she married Howard L. Berry, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2000. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Besselman and Louise and Carolyn Hill.

Survivors include five sons, Charles Berry, of Van Buren, Mo., Phillip Berry and wife, Brenda, Bob Berry and wife, Marsha, Ronnie Berry and Timothy Berry and wife, Shelley, all of St., Louis, Mo.; six sisters, Pauline Berry, of Gideon, Dorothy Toole and husband, Rex, of Sikeston, Mo., Shirley Costephens, of Malden, Mo., Betty Burris and husband, Jerry, of St. Louis and Charlene Campbell and husband, Jack, of Gideon; two brothers, Charles Hill and wife, Fronia, of St. Louis and Bill Hill and wife, Doris, of Delodge, Mo.; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Gideon with the Rev. Richard Blagg officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

Marion Crabtree

Marion Charlesteen Crabtree, 83, of Manila, Ark., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born in Cave City, Ark., daughter of the late Charley and Rossie Bell Meacham, she was a seamstress and of the Methodist faith.

She married Edward Clay Crabtree, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Crabtree; four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Ann Veach and husband, Dennis Veach, of the Lost Cane Community; one brother, Thomas Meacham, of Manila; four sisters, Rodell Bunch, of Manila, Laura Hutton, of Kennett, Pat Fyler, of Batesville, Ark. and Lawana Miles, of Newport, Ark.; one granddaughter, Candy Ann Crabtree McMinn and one great-granddaughter, Destiny Alexis Brooks.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Ray Dill officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

Mildred Floyd

Mildred Jane Floyd, 72, of Doniphan, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.

Born April 17, 1930, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of the late Charles Edward and Pauline Alexander Brodie, she was a member of the Ripley County Eagles Aerie No. 4443 and of the Baptist faith.

On Nov. 25, 1967, she married Burlos Floyd, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2001.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Paulette McClendon, of Caruthersville, Mo.; one son, Elva Ray McClendon, of Caruthersville; one step-son, Larry Floyd; one step-daughter, Reba Morgan; one brother, Don Webber, of Doniphan; one sister, Charlene Brodie, of Doniphan; 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville with James Mills officiating. H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.

Nathaniel Jones

Rev. Nathaniel Jones, 73, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.

A wake will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Eastside Spiritual Church in Hayti with Elder Willie Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hayti.

Ralph Mayberry

Ralph Mayberry, 78, of Sikeston, Mo., formerly of Hornersville, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at the Hunter Acres Nursing Home in Sikeston.

Born Aug. 10, 1924, in Hornersville, he was the son of the late John and Myrtle Hutchins Mayberry. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Tucker and Tunny Mayberry.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the Horner Cemetery in Hornersville with the Rev. Bill Fox officiating.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennettt was in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Mclain

Joyce McLain, 68, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at her residence.

Born Dec. 6, 1934, in Senath, she was the daughter of the late W.C. and Eldona Newman Duke.

On June 6, 1953, in Paragould, Ark., she married R.W. McLain, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Nancy Todd and husband, Mike, of Senath; two grandchildren, Beth Todd and Shannon Todd and one sister, Olene Bugg, of California.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Senath with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Terry Whitlock, Randy Blankenship, Marty Miller, Robbie Shrum, Don Wallace and Tommy Wilkins.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Pauline Presson

Pauline Presson, 93, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Jan. 1, 1910, in Rector, Ark., she was the daughter of the late G.W. and Sophia Groom Winn.

On Aug. 24, 1924, in Greenway, Ark., she married Loran Lee "Babe" Presson, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1990. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Presson; two daughters, Joyce Edwards and Lora Earline Presson; one brother, Guy Winn and one sister, Mae Winn.

Survivors include three sons, Warner Presson, of St. Ann, Mo., Jimmy Presson, of Warrenton, Mo. and Charles Pression, of Matthews, Mo.; eight daughters, Betty Abbott and Glenda Pugh, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Melba Craig, of Bridgeton, Mo., Donnie Hearn, of O'Fallon, Mo., Patricia Wren, of New Melle, Mo., Brenda Moorhaus and Diane Edwards, both of Rockford, Ill. and Barbara Pipkens, of Festus, Mo.; 39 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Tommy Swift officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Terry A. and Larry Craig, Eugene, Dwayne and Dennis Presson and Eddie Hearn.

Cynthia Townsend

Cynthia Elaine Townsend, 46, of Lansing, Mich., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Born Sept. 19, 1956, in Malden, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Theodis and Lula Bell Davidson Townsend.

Survivors include seven daughters, Deanna and Chiquita Townsend, both of Columbia, Mo., Lotoya, Shavon and Shalonda Townsend, all of Malden and Sebresa Townsend and Cynthia Elaine Townsend, II, both of Lansing; four sisters, Ollie Eskridge, of Memphis, Tenn., Theola and Mona Townsend, both of Malden and Lisa Townsend, of Columbia; 10 brothers, J.C. Townsend, of Eudora, Ark., Jessie, James, Theodis, Elvis and Charles Townsend, all of Malden, Willie Andrews, of St. Louis, Mo., W.C. Eskridge, of Tunica, Miss., Johnny Townsend, of Columbia and Leo Townsend, of Chicago, Ill. and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Gene Perkins officiating.

Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery.

R.D. Walker

R. D. Walker, 76, of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in New Madrid County.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Hayti.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Hayti with the Rev. J.H. Newmy officiating.

Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hayti.

Lillian White

Lillian White, 89, of Wardell, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Kennett.

Born Aug. 23, 1913, in Caruthersville, Mo., daughter of the late Robert Woods and Hughtoka Hemphill Cain, she was a homemaker and a member of the Pascola Baptist Church in Pascola, Mo.

On June 20, 1931, in Caruthersville, she married Dewey White, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Larry White and wife, Donna, of Wardell and Ray White and wife, Tee, of Willows, Calif.; one daughter, Mary Margaret Turnage, of Kennett; one brother, Leroy Cain, of Bragg City, Mo.; two sisters, Pauline Carver, of Kennett and Earline Bryant, of Braggadocio, Mo.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Wardell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marty Carlisle officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Caruthersville.

Delorese Williams

Delorese "Delo" Williams, 89, of Campbell, Mo., died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2003, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.
