Doris Boyd

Doris Boyd, 81, of Clarkton, Mo., died today, Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Laness Funeral Home of Campbell, Mo.

Lonnie Brown

Lonnie Brown, 51, of Piggott, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

Lillian Hailey

Lillian Hailey, 97, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Emery officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Hazel James

Hazel Marie James, 99, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.

Born Sept. 16, 1903, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of the late Elmer and Lelia Clara Young Workman, she was a school teacher and principal in the Steele, Mo. School System and was once named Teacher of the Year by the Missouri State Teachers Association. She was a member of Eastern Star and was of the Baptist faith.

She married John Lawrence James, who preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1994.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia May, of Caruthersville; four grandchildren, John C. May, of Atlanta, Ga., Kemp Boyd, of Jackson, Tenn., Harriett Smith, of Memphis, Tenn. and Koko Holt, of Germantown, Tenn. and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Paul Currie officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Family members served as pallbearers.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.

Marie Karnes

Marie Stone Karnes, 88, of Senath, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Jan. 1, 1915, in Hornersville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Claude and Sallie Jane Helton Stone.

On June 7, 1942, she married Robert Leslie Karnes, who preceded her in death in June, 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Nelda Morgan, of Kennett and Jacqueline Davis, of Foley, Mo.; three sons, Omar and Roger Karnes, both of Senath and David Karnes, of Benton, Ark.; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with John M. Karnes and the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow at the Lulu Cemetery in Senath.

Pallbearers are Jimmy McClain, Kevin Davis, Tommy and Dickey Don Karnes, John Anderson and Buddy Gist.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lulu Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund. Eddie Lewis

Eddie "Big Ed" L. Lewis, 44, of Minden. La., died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Minden.

Born in Leachville, Ark., son of the late Joe and June Lewis, he worked for Universal Compression, Inc. and was a 1976 graduate of Senath-Hornersville High School.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Rupert Lewis; one son, Drew Lewis; one daughter, Jennifer Sanders; one sister, Anna Jo Morgan; one granddaughter, Taylor Sanders and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Rose-Heath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden with the Rev. Jim Phillips officiating.

Burial was in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Frankie Chanlor, Jared Timmons, Gary Sexton, Patony Morrow and Terry and Steve Rupert.

Leon Lovelady

Leon Lovelady, 59, of Senath, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at his residence.

Born May 22, 1943, in Hayleve, Ala., he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Jane Swims Lovelady.

In 1963, in Senath, he married Betty Coleman, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Joyce Bowen, of Cardwell, Mo.; one brother, Paul Lovelady, of Rosell, Ill.; one sister, Willodean Harris, of Bandel, Ark. and four grandchildren, Michael Moore and Mallery, Janice and Leigh Bowen.

He was preceded in death by one son, Leonard Lovelady; one daughter, Cathy Bowen; one brother, Bobby Gene Lovelady; one sister, Ellen Jane Lovelady and one grandson, Steven Bowen.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with Greg Pollock officiating.

Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery at Senath.

Pallbearers were Junior, Chris, Lonnie and Jerry Coleman, Glenn Martin and Eddie Jaco.

Cletes Reagans

Cletes Wilburn Reagans, 67, of Rector, Ark., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.

Born July 9, 1935, in Mounds, Ark., he worked for Lay's Trucking in California and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Della Morgan Russell, of Rector and one brother, Wayne Reagans, of Rector.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Mitchell Fuenral Home Chapel in Rector with Kim Bridges officiating.

Burial was in the Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector.

Pallbearers were Kelvin Reagans, Buel Cox, Tony Rowton, Darrell Smoot, Burnin Morgan, Steve Spicer and Randy Jackson. Memorials may be made to the Paragould Childrens Home.

Minnie Willis

Minnie Marie Willis, 64, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Arbyrd, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at the St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis.

Born Dec. 11, 1938, in Arbyrd, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Elbert and Tilda Bell Lamastus Childs.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Schwartz and husband, Dan, of St. Charles, Mo. and Tina Jones, of St. Louis; three sisters, Zola Wilcox, of Senath, Mo., Pauline Carroll, of Arbyrd and Bonnie Gray, of Farmington, Mo.; four grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Jonathan and Sarah Leonard and a very beloved friend, Gene Jones, of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath, with the Rev. Wayland Tom officiating.

Burial was in the McGrew Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Matthew and Jonathan Leonard, Kevin Cassey, John Wilcox, Gary Newman and Randal Gibson.
