Doris Boyd

Doris "Jean" Boyd, 81, of Gideon, Mo., and formerly of the Poplar Bluff and Qulin, Mo. area, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Gideon Care Center in Gideon.

Born June 20, 1921, at Clarkton, Mo., a daughter of the late William E. Dunscombe, Sr. and Henrietta James Dunscombe, she was a homemaker and member of Memorial Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.

On Oct. 26, 1942, in St. Louis, she married P. Lawrence Boyd who preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William E. Dunscombe, Jr.

Survivors include two sons, David Boyd of La Vergne, Tenn. and Danny Boyd of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Cindy Tilley of Bull Shoals, Ark.; one sister, Laura Baker of Gideon; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 2, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell, Mo., with the Rev. Kenley Dunscombe officiating.

Burial in the Rombauer Cemetery at Rombauer, Mo.

Lonnie Brown

Lonnie Brown, 51, of Piggott, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Feb. 10, 1951, in Delaplane, Ark., he was a son of the late Cleveland and Aldi Morgan Brown. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Brown, a brother, Hubert Brown and two sisters, Pearline Davis and Patsy Richardson.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Brown and wife, Emily, of Marble Hill, Mo., and Cleveland Brown and wife, Michelle, of Holcomb, Mo.; two daughters, Lorretta Raney and husband, Michael, of Carryville, Ark., and Deborah J. Brown of Kennett; three brothers, Jimmy Brown of Marble Hill, Gean Brown of Dexter, Mo. and Donald Brown of Alabama; two sisters, Joyce Green and Brenda Brown of Dexter.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 2, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with Dennis Collins officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers will be Mark Burton, Richard Wyrick, Dallas Null, Derek Burkhalter, James Morrow, Terry Burk, Jason Morris and Jonathan Morris.

Dorothy Corbin

Dorothy Celeste Corbin, 85, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in Orange Park, Fla.

Born Dec. 12, 1917, in Portia, Ark., she was a retired bank employee and member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville. She married James Rothwell Corbin who preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1971.

Survivors include a daughter, Jolynn Carpenter and husband, Stephen, at Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Ridgeway W. Corbin II and wife, Judi, of Orange Park, Fla.; three brothers, Chester Barnes and Cecil Barnes, both of Steele, Mo., and Everett Barnes of Scott City, Mo. and one sister, Audrey Turner of Steele.

Graveside services were 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Little Prairie Cemetery with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating, and the H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge of services.

Lillian Hailey

Lillian E. Hailey, 97, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at National Health Care of Kennett.

Born May 30, 1905, in Denton, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Louetta Lookingbee King. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Raymond and Paul Hailey and an infant at birth; one daughter, Shirley Hailey; three brothers, Virgil, Albert and Austin King; three sisters, Thelma Spencer, Delia Becker and Ollie Hogland and one grandchild, Jamie Griffey.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Hailey of Hartville, Mo. and Ray Hailey of Rockford, Ill; two daughters, Melba June Wallace of Kennett and Faye Griffey of Ft. Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren, Randy Dennis of Piggott, Ark., Johnny and Mack Dennis of Kennett; Regina Burns of Rockford, Ill.; Michelle McWethy of North Richland Hill, Texas; Robert Hailey and Carla Howard, both of Hartville; 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Don Emery officiating.

Burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were Randy Dennis, Johnny Dennis, Mark Dennis, Barry Franklin, Lesley Franklin and Steve Burns.

Marie Karnes

Marie Karnes, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Jan. 1, 1915, in Hornersville, Mo., a daughter of the late Claude and Janie Helton Stone, she was a 1933 graduate of Hornersville High School and retired cook from the Senath-Hornersville school.

On June 7, 1942, she married Leslie Karnes who preceded her in death June 16, 1987.

Survivors include five children, Jacqueline Davis of Foley, Mo., Nelda Morgan of Kennett, Omar and Roger Karnes of Senath and David Karnes of Benton, Ark.; two brothers, Jack and Bill Stone of Senath; two sisters, Frances Gist of Hornersville and Sue Hubel of Michigan; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath with John M. Karnes and the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jimmy McClain, Kevin Davis, Tommy Karnes, John Anderson, Dickie Don Karnes, Bud Gist and David Gist.

Lorane Smith

Lorane Della Smith, 76, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden.

Arrangements are incomplete with Landess Funeral Home of Malden.

Sarah Waller

Sarah Waller, 15, of Senath, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 in Senath.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2 at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at the First General Baptist Chruch in Kennett with Rev. Ted Winberry officiating.

Burial will be in the Senath Cemetery in Senath.
