Agness Cora

Agness Irene Cora, 89, of St. Charles, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at NHC Healthcare in St. Charles.

Born Saturday, Sept. 27, 1913, in Doniphan, Mo., a daughter of the late Joseph Siegler and Clara Brooks Siegler, she was a homemaker and member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church in Doniphan.

She married Emery Whittington who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Leon Whittington and wife, Emma, of Van Wert, Ohio and Jackie Whittington and wife, Wanda, of Cooter, Mo.; one daughter, Flora Bosworth and husband, Paul, of St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Johnny Siegler of Doniphan and a sister, Vernell Travis of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 16, at Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, Mo. with the Rev. Gary Andrews, Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.

Larry Bodkin

Larry Bodkin, 61, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Sept. 2, 1941, in Piggott, Ark., he was a son of the late Willard Thomas Bodkin and the late Rachel Capps Bodkin Ethridge.

Other survivors include a son, Larry Matthew Bodkin of Kennett; a daughter, Paula Hooper and husband, Tom, of Kennett; their mother, Alice Bodkin of Kennett; an aunt, Mavis Henson of Bragg City and two uncles, Millard Dick Bodkin of Doniphan, Mo. and Dizer Capps of Caruthersville, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Mayes officiating.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were David Inman, Aaron Waynick, Matt Cohn, Sonny Bolin, Tyson Gooch Waylong Hatch, David Nail and Chris Sledge.

Honorary pallbearers were BillInman, Ron Pickens, Lynn Poe, Hubert Snipes, Larry Poe, Gerald Horton, Harold Woodard, J.R. Holsten, Paul Harkey, Tommy Price, Jim McElwrath and Doyle Ward.

Linda Gurley

Linda F. Gurley, 55, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at her residence.

Born June 6, 1947, in Hayti, Mo., a daughter of the late Carel Luten and Lillie Wagner Hudgins, she attended Pemiscot County R-3 schools and the Wesleyan Church in Caruthersville.

Survivors include two daughters, Tanna Abbott of Caruthersville and Crystal Gurley of Springfield, Mo., one sister, Helen Higginbotham of Seminole, Fla.; three brothers, Carel L. Hudgins, Jr. and Gene Hudgins of Caruthersville and Jerry Hudgins and one grandson, J.P. Patillo of Caruthersville.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Ray Gurley, Jeff abbott, Justin Sides, Dewayne McCall, Jerry Gurley and Milburn McCall.
