William "Bill" White, 82, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
He was born September 11, 1920 at Pontotoc, Miss., son of the late Andrew Payton and Lettie Rudel Sappington White.
He was reared and educated in Pontotoc, Miss., and lived in Kennett, Mo. for a number of years. He was a General Manager for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company for 23 years, and received numerous awards during his career. He retired in 1983.
Mr. White was also a dedicated coach and manager for more than 10 years with Little League, Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth Baseball Teams.
He had been a resident of Pine Bluff for 20 years and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jean Walls White, to whom he was married on Oct. 5, 1953, at Hernando, Miss.; two sons, Phillip White and wife, Susie, of Fort Smith, Ark. and Chris White and wife, Shawn, of Southlake, Texas; two daughters, Deborah White Byers and husband, Marty, of Lexa Ark. and Tammy White Studdard and husband, Rick, of Pine Bluff; three brothers, Robert White, of Gillett, Ark., James White, of Kennett and Carl White, of Southhaven, Miss.; one sister, Sarah Robison, of Kennett and nine grandchildren, Terra Fuller, Christy Fuller, Brandon White, Ryan Byers, Leah Byers, Ricky Studdard, Hali Studdard, Taylor White and Brady White. A host of extended family, and very special friends of over 40 years, Neal and Mary Magee, of Sheridan, Ark.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Lonnie Mittag and Bob Medlcok officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Robert, Paul, Carl and Payton White, David Yates and Neal Mayes.
Memorials may be made to the Varner River Baptist Church.
