Carl Lee Newman, 80, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the Northeast Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Oct. 16, 1922, in Senath, son of the late James Washington and Susie Anna Gibson Newman, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and American Legion Post 303 in Senath.
On Jan. 8, 1941, in Cardwell, Mo., he married Vaudine Morris, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three children, Carl Dean Newman and wife, Bonnie, of Kennett, Sudona Rollins and husband, Bill, of Paragould, Ark., Gary Lynn Newman and wife, Brenda, of Senath; five grandchildren, Jennifer Gurley and husband, George, of Kennett, Gary Lynn Newman and wife, Cheryl, of Senath, Paul Brian Newman and wife, Sharon, of New Jersey, Krissi Rose and husband, Brian, of Leachville, Ark. and Steven Rollins and wife, Stacey, of Paragould; 10 great-grandchildren, Carlee and Caleb Gurley, Baylee and Chance Rose, Emilee Newman, Garrett Morgan, Tori and Trevor Mafnas, Zachary Rollins and Jacqueline Newman and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Franklin Harvey and George Washington Newman and three sisters, Eldona Duke, Flora McGrew and Jacqueline Newman.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Assembly of God Church in Senath with the Revs. Wayland Tom and Derek Combs officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Don Wallace, Eddie Adams, Mike Todd, Greg Gibson, Wally Brown, John Wilcox, Kenny Gibson and B.J. Young.
Honorary pallbearers were members of American Legion Post 303.
