Herbert Burk Herbert Burk, 89, of Flint, Mich., died Friday, April 25, 2003, at Flint.

Born April 26, 1913, in Hollywood, Mo., son of the late Joe and Edith Fike Burk, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII.

Survivors include two daughters; two sisters, Mary Branum, of Hornersville, Mo. and Betty Maxwell, of Cardwell, Mo. and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Burk; three sisters and three brothers.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home Chapel in Hornersville with Bud Maxwell officiating.

Billy Burson

Billy Paul "Bill" Burson, 74, of Holcomb, Mo., died Friday, April 25, 2003, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Nov. 15, 1928, in Campbell, Mo., son of the late William Claude and Lena Bainbridge Burson, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflic and he was of the Baptist faith. He served as Historian for the American Legion Post 109 in Campbell.

On June 14, 1959, in Cairo, Ill., he married Barbara Elkins, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two daughters, Billie Burson Rensberger, of Austin, Texas and Linda Burson Hunziker, of Naperville, Ill.; one son, John Jackson, of Gray, La.; one brother, Ralph Burson, of Campbell; one sister, Maxine McBride, of Clarkton, Mo.; three grandchildren, Jason Jackson, of Kennett, Kelley Hunziker, of Kenosha, Wis. and Kim Hunziker, of Montgomery, Ill. and two great-grandsons, Jacob Jackson, of Kennett and Dylan Hunziker, of Kenosha.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Jackson; eight brothers and sisters; step-mother, Ida Burson and one step-sister, Rev. Georgia Shafer.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Burial was in the Elder Cemetery at Campbell.

Mildred Jackson

Mildred Alice Jackson, 90, of Malden, Mo., died Monday April 28, 2003, at the Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden.

Born Jan. 9, 1913, in Elmo, Ark., daughter of the late Walter and Ora Shirrell Batson, she was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Malden.

On April 22, 1933, in Magness, Ark., she married Gene Jackson, who survives, of Malden.

Survivors also include two sons, Joe Jackson and wife, Shirley, of Malden and Walter Albert Jackson and wife, Merlene, of Guymon, Okla.; two daughters, Joan Neer and husband, Joe, of Emporia, Kan. and Marion Jean Tillson, of Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ted Jackson; five brothers, Jake, E.G., John, Fred and Bill Batson and four sisters, Ruth McDonald, Ruby Harris, Mary Jennings and Juanita Hensley.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Malden. Ireta Jarred

Ireta Kaye Jarred, 59, of Kennett, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Jan. 2, 1944, in Steele, Mo., daughter of the late Robert and Anniemae Watkins Burton, she was a homemaker and attended Grace Regional Fellowship in Malden, Mo.

On Jan. 13, 1964, she married Henry Don Jarred, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Larry Jarred, of Blytheville, Ark. and Barry Jarred, of Kennett; one daughter, Carla Lucy, of Kennett; two sisters, Jean Payne, of Rives, Mo. and Shirley Skinner, of Kennett; five grandchildren, Reid Lucy and Zachany, Randa, Codi and Katline Jarred and two step-grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor Oliver.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Nell Burton.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Flora Krebs

Flora Mae Alt Krebs, 91, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at her residence.

Born May 30, 1911, in Campbell, daughter of the late Rev. Ethan and Electa Crawford Allen, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Beechwell General Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 92 and the Rebekah Lodge.

On July 25, 1925, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., she married Charles Henry Alt, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1976. She later married Carl Krebs, on Jan, 12, 1980 and he preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Elma Tesreau, of Campbell; six grandchildren, Rechel Campbell, of Kansas City, Mo., Leeta Linville and Allen Tesreau, both of Campbell, Jeannie Bowers, of Lee's Summit, Mo., Janet Hart, of Shreveport, La. and Tim Tesreau, of Doniphan, Mo.; 15 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Beechewell General Baptist Church in Campbell with the Rev. John Schlager officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Glen Moyer

Glen Moyer, 60, of Germantown, Tenn., formerly of Holcomb, Mo., died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at his residence.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. and also 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Pine City Cemetery.

Stewart Mullins

Stewart Brian Mullins, 43, of Gobler, Mo., died Monday, Aprill 28, 2003, at his residence.

Vera Pressley

Vera Virginia Pressley, 78, of St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Saint Alexius Hospital in St. Louis.

Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Blytheville, Ark., daughter of the late John Elmer and Connie Mae Overman Davis, she was a machine operator at Caranth MFG Co., in St. Louis.

Survivors include one son, Felton Smith, of St. Louis; three brothers, Lex J. Davis, of Malden, Mo., Donald D. Davis, of Ozark, Ark. and Ronald Gene Davis, of Campbell, Mo.; two sisters, Katherine Harline, of Springfield, Mo. and Betty Mae Moore, of Campbell; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Everett Davis and one sister, Norma Lee Dildine.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Andy Evans officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Elmer Skaggs

Elmer Skaggs, 93, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, April 26, 2003, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.

Born Oct. 12, 1909, in Campbell, son of the late James W. and Nancy Dunn Skaggs, he was a short order cook and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two nephews, J.C. Skaggs and Joe Skaggs, both of Kennett and one cousin, Aileen Brasher, of Campbell.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the Bethany Cemetery in Campbell with the Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating.

Gregory Smith

Gregory Stephen Smith, 48, of California, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003.

Born Jan. 14, 1955, in Pomona, Calif., he was the son of James M. and Mary Ellen Smith, of Covina, formerly of the Kennett area. He was a horticulturist and a nurseryman for the state of California.

Survivors also include one sister, Marsha Smith and husband, Andy; two brothers, Michael Smith and Kent Smith and wife, Cherylin; two nephews, Jeromey and Jeffrey Smith; four uncles, Russ, Howard, Jerry and Miles Webb and two aunts, Karen and Glenna G. Webb.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Oakdale, Glendora. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or City of Hope, Duarte.

Wesley Thurman

Wesley Thurman, 85, of Piedmont, Mo., died, Monday, April 28, 2003, at his residence.

Ellen Walton

Ellen Annetta Walton, 88, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at the Gideon Care Center.

Born Sept. 19, 1914, in Calhoun City, Miss., daughter of the late Will and Clara Sugg Goodson, she was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Gideon.

On Aug. 25, 1934, she married Kim Walton, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1977. She was also preceded in death by one son, Buddy Wayne Walton and four sisters, Marion Stewart, Willie Gulledge, Ruth Bounds and Pansy Wilson.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Walton, of St. Peters, Mo., Jerry Walton, of Clarkton, Mo. and Jim Walton, of Indainapolis, Ind.; two daughters, Jessie Faye Thompson, of Houghton, La. and Helen Berg, of Murray, Ky.; one brother, Kenneth Goodson, of Calhoun City; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cleo Payne officiating.

Burial will follow at the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
