Genevia Lemonds Luther, 90, of Kennett, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Aug. 29, 1912, in Dunklin County, she was the daughter of the late William "Bunk" and Alice Byrd Huffstutler.
On Aug. 21, 1931, she married Cecil Lemonds, who preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1978. In 1992, she married George Luther, who preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one son, David Lemonds; one grandson, John David Lemonds and one brother, Eugene Huffstutler.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Lemonds and wife, Mavis and Jack Lemonds and wife, Sue, all of Kennett; one daughter, Barbara Williams and husband, Carl, of Kennett; a daughter-in-law, Becky Lemonds, of Kennett; two brothers, Adolph Huffstutler, of Kennett and Bill Huffstutler, of Matthews, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Trent, Tracy, Lance, Jill and Sarah Lemonds, Julie Cupples, Tammy Matus, Kenna Skelton and Maria Simmons; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, May 15, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Lonnie Mittag officiating.
Burial was in the Sumach Cemtery at Holcomb, Mo.
Pallbearers were Lance and Trent Lemonds, Britt Ready, David Cupples, Chris Skelton, Gary Simmons and Mike Matus.
Robert Earl "Bob" Simpson, 67, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, May 12, 2003, at his residence.
Born March 3, 1936, in Tupelo, Miss., son of the late Sam Washington Simpson, Jr. and Lena Georgia Wilson Simpson, he was engaged in farming and a member of the Jesus Name Tabernacle of Caruthersville.
On March 30, 1980, in Covington, Tenn., he married Maudie Mae Singleton, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include seven children, Rhonda Cummings, Lena Simpson, Charlotte Hernandez, Rebecca Aydelott and David McCaig, all of Caruthersville, Joyce Nelson, of Halls, Tenn. and Maudie Herron, of Camden, Tenn.; 13 step-children; one brother, Junior Simpson, of Bruce, Miss.; one sister, Eunice Wood, of Crenshaw, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; 37 step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and 44 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Jesus Name Tabernacle in Caruthersville with the Rev. Anthony Stepp officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clint Singleton, James Barnett, Chris Henson, Chris Rudd, Salvador Hernandez and Victor Marillo.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
