Robert Akers

Robert Dale "Bob" Akers, 59, of Lexington, Tenn., formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his residence.

Born Aug. 28, 1943, son of P.H. and Nelldean Smith Akers, of St. Francis, Ark., he was engineering manager for Mark IV Automotive and a member of the Broad St. Church of Christ in Lexington. He was a former member and deacon of Slicer Stret Church of Christ in Kennett.

He married Nancy Elaine Terry, who survives of the home.

Survivors include his parents, P.H. and Nelldean Akers, of St. Francis; his wife, Nancy Akers, of Lexington; one son, Scot Everett Akers and wife, Shelly, of Jonesboro, Ark.; two daughters, Stephanie Elaine Lee and husband, Bill, of Memphis, Tenn. and Amy Elizabeth Andrews and husband, Dave, of Barrie Ontario, Canada; three brothers, Johnny Akers and wife, Karen, of San Bernardino, Calif; David Akers and wife, Becky, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Michael Akers and wife, Jacy, of Piggott, Ark.; two sisters, Marilyn Low and husband, Myron, of Piggott and Brenda Dicus and husband, James, of Kennett; mother-in-law, Ora B. Terry, of Kennett; brother-in-law, Tommy Terry, of Kennett; three grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth and Caitlin Elaine Akers and Savannah Elizabeth Lee; niece raised in home, Michele Lynn Jones and husband, Sid, of Kennett and friend like a brother, Bill Biggs, of Kennett.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, May 15, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Mr. Johnny Hester and Mr. P.J. Hardy officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Joey Clark, Rick Gore, David Smith, Joe Slicer, Floyd Coffer and Lanny and Danny Broglin.
