The House at Four Mile

In December 2002, Marietta (Hughes) Wood stood in front of the Christmas tree in the living room of her Four Mile home, the location of many Christmas parties. Some years, as many as five Christmas parties could be hosted by the family. (Courtney Luke)

Pictured is the oldest known photograph of the Given Owen House, commonly referred to as the Hughes' Home or Four Mile Home. It is estimated this picture was taken in the 1930s. The post and rail fencing is still part of the yard during this picture.

In 1912, Mr. and Mrs. Louis McCutchen (center) were photographed with their five children and families. Mrs. McCutchen was the daughter of Dr. Given Owen for whom the house at Four Mile is named. The family and their descendants became prominent citizens of the current city of Campbell.
