Kennett-NMCC: Live updates and morePosted Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 9:01 PM
9:01 p.m.: Kennett loses to New Madrid County Central 60-45 in the Class 3, District 1 semifinals to end its season 12-10. Jarvis Finley scores a game-high 21 points in his final game with the Tribe, while NMCC will play Charleston for the district title tomorrow night. Dontre Jenkins led NMCC with 18 points, while Kony Ealy came on late to score 16 and Josh Minner finished with 11. The Eagles' guards (Minner and Holmes) were big tonight, scoring 26 of NMCC's 60 points and frustrating Kennett all night.
8:44 p.m.: Kennett trails 50-40 with 5:37 left in the fourth quarter. Blake Parr, who has battled foul trouble all night, has just fouled out. The Tribe cut it to 34-28 a little over two minutes into the third quarter on a Trey Abmeyer 3-pointer, but NMCC answered back to push the lead to 16 (47-31) on Terry Young's bucket with 1:07 left in the frame.
8:11 p.m.: Kennett trails 32-21 at the half. While the Tribe has held standout Kony Ealy to just five points so far, guards Dontre Jenkins and Keith Holmes have combined for 17, and Josh Minner has nine, including a 3-pointer right before the halftime buzzer that made it a double-digit game at the break.
7:49 p.m.: NMCC scored the last 11 points of the opening period to take a 13-10 lead after on quarter. Kennett raced out to an 8-0 lead as Tevin Hampton and Jarvis Finley each drained 3-pointers, but the Eagles rallied to take the lead.
7:13 p.m.: Charleston has defeated Scott City 80-49 and now awaits the winner of Kennett and NMCC in the Class 3, District 1 finals tomorrow night.
6:56 p.m.: With less than five minutes left in the third quarter, Charleston leads Scott County 58-33 after an Antonio Riggens' 3-pointer. The winner of Kennett and NMCC will likely play Charleston for the district title tomorrow night. |
