The Kennett Lady Indians have come a long, long way.
After back-to-back four-win seasons -- including an 0-13 start last year -- the Lady Tribe enters tonight's game against New Madrid County Central in search of its 15th win of the year. And the good times may be just beginning. Kennett is seeded second in the upcoming Class 3, District 1 Tournament that tips off Saturday at Charleston is favored to at least get to the finals. And if Saturday's four-point loss to top-seeded and state-ranked Kelly is an indicator, the Lady Indians may just shock the world and win their first district title since 1997. Wait, there's more. Kennett can return four starters off this year's team for next season -- only Hope Sparks is the lone senior -- and the returnees include an strong junior class led by Jerica Wheeler and Alexandra Brown, plus a strong senior class led by inside presence Brittney Williams, Sharika Walls and Allyson Luce. Things are definitely looking up for Casey Bunting's ladies. |
