Week 9 HS football predictions

I'm once again running late with my picks (it's been a busy week with volleyball districts and other things). To make a long story short, I was just 5-4 with my picks last week (which proves I'm not a football genius, as I've said before), but I'm 38-6 on the year. So, without further ado, here's Buhler's picks for week 9.
NMCC (6-1) at Perryville (3-5): The Eagles played arguably their best game of the year last week, blasting Kennett 55-14 and outgaining the Tribe 486-108 and scoring 27 points off of five Kennett fumbles.
Chaffee (5-3) at Hayti (8-0): Chaffee is in the middle of its best season since the first George Bush was president and needs just one win in its last two games to secure a winning season.
Malden (3-5) at Charleston (2-6): This game should decide the Class 2, District 1 championship. In fact, thanks to Caruthersville's loss Thursday, a Charleston victory locks up the district title.
St. Vincent (3-5) at Portageville (0-7): This is a battle of two teams that are struggling and may already be looking to build for next year. And next year should be brighter for both schools -- St. Vincent is just a few years removed from a state championship, while Portageville has young talent that could help turn around its fortunes in a year or two. And last but not least...
Dexter (5-3) at Kennett (6-2): The Indians are coming off of their worst loss of the season last week and have struggled against Dexter the last few years, losing seven in a row to the Bearcats. But that's the past -- both teams seem to match up well this year and this has the potential to be a dandy game (see my Dexter-Kennett countdown blogs for more on tonight's game). And for my NFL picks on the Rams and Titans (the Chiefs have a bye week), here goes...
Browns at Rams: Part of me wants to say that with Steven Jackson and Marc Bulger both back -- and with the Browns coming to town -- that this might be the Rams' week to finally win. But as I said last week, I'll believe it when it happens...
Raiders at Titans: Vince Young is back in the lineup, and the Titans are back in Nashville for a three-game homestand after playing four of their first six games on the road. |
