Observations -- Obama, Wright, and the Obama Girl

I am a little confused about Barack Obama's relationship with his pastor Jeremiah Wright and with the Obama Girl.
First, I wonder about his relationship with Jeremiah Wright. Are we to believe that Wright has only recently begun lashing out against "white America?" Are we to believe that Obama has never heard the kind of language from his pastor before in which his pastor damns America? Obama chose this man as his pastor and this man has been his pastor for 20 years. He chose him to be his "spiritual mentor." I am absolutely certain that Obama has heard this kind of language from Wright before and have no doubt that Obama has been influenced by Wright's teaching. Look out for a "wolf in lamb's clothing!" By the way, this America that Obama is in and that Wright has been in is the same America in which hundreds of thousands of white people have voted for Obama, else he would not be where he is today. Looks like this America that both Wright and Obama are privileged to live in is not so bad! And what about the Obama Girl? Is this the kind of image Obama wants to portray? I think not, and if it is I know I would not be interested in it. Obama should have distanced himself a long time ago from Wright. He should distance himself form the Obama Girl also. If he does not have the wisdom and courage to do both, why would anyone vote for him? And by the way, I heard Obama say that he could no more disown Wright than he could his white grandmother. I heard him say he could not distance himself from Wright no more than he could his white grandmother. There is one significant difference: His grandmother does not stand as the spiritual leader and mentor of thousands of people espousing her racial and/or political views and religious teachings. To GOAT LADY glad to help you to understand! I know you think like I do Can't we just all get along:)!
To Tommyjoy911 when you feel that someone really tries to understand you and does not try to belittle your feelings that means a lot. I do not try to blame all people for the actions of a few.No one and no race of people is perfect. We are all colorless in the eyes of Christ. Thank-you for being a part of the SOLUTION and not the PROBLEM. We should all be learning life lesson (HOPEFULLY)until we leave this earth.
TO THE PERSON OF COLOR ,I AM PROUD OF YOU.
AND YOUR STORY. WE ARE ALL GOD'S PEOPLE . HE CREATED US ALL AND I SEE NO COLOR, IN YOU, YOU ARE HUMAN LIKE ALL AND SOME OF THE BEST PEOPLE IN ALL THE WORLD ARE YOU AND YOUR BRO & SISTERS,I HAVE A RETIRED SCHOOL TEACHER WORKING WITH ME AND I LOVE HER DEARLY. SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST.....YES SHE IS COLOR ,BUT I SEE ONLY HER AS MY SISTER IN CHRIST..& A DEAR FRIEND TO ALL...

Clinton could have been involved in more shady deals than she admits to, not to mention telling a few "stretchers", and, though I am a Viet-Nam era vet and have a profound respect for John McCain, I worry that he could be a loose cannon. Obama has black roots, and could reasonably harbor some degree of resentment re: racial inequality.
I see the choices we are confronted with as being limited to picking the lesser of two; possibly three evils. May God guide us all when we vote.
Wow, very good to see through your eyes, opinionsarefree! Thanks for the insight.
As people of color lets just all PRETEND that we have have never experienced Pastor Wrights comments in the physical sense. He voiced out loud what a lot of people have been exposed to in their lifetime. My parents lived through it and now so do I and my children. If you have ever experienced someone telling you that you did not get the job but someone LESS qualifed someone that you trained with less seniority did get the job, and you know and everyone in the workplace knows the real reason but dosen't want to say or have you ever been rejected by a landlord , after you have an ARTICULATE conversation with the them over the telephone, you make an appointment to meet and discuss the terms of a rental agreement then that is when you find out that the property is not on the market anymore (WHY?) Because the landlord does see you in the flesh and does realize that you are a person of color. You are well dressed and groomed and employed and clearly not crazy. Even though you know the reason for the quick accupancy excuse given to you by the landlord ( THEY WOULD"NT HAVE GIVEN IT TO OPRAH) you have your average but ARTICULATE White friend to call hours later and suddenly the property is on the market again, or you walk in a store in Brookhaven Miss. with your 76 year old Grandmother and are follwed around by all of the clerks like you are thieves while you watch other people stealing whole outfits with matching shoes, or you purchased a pair of shoes from a store in downtown Kennett in the late 70's and decided to return them with the reciept and were told they can not be returned because the store would not be able to put them back on the shelf after I( A PERSON OF COLOR) had tried them on, if you went to Kennett School in the 60's and were confronted with signs and hateful words painted on the front of the school with white paint, saying GO BACK TO AFRICA, or GO HOME N**** ,( I am not from Africa I am from Missouri did Black people or Mexican people never put up signs on public bulidings in Kennett, that were paid for with the help of their tax dollars telling White people to go back to where they came from),or if you grew up in Kennett did you ever wonder why there were no people of color working at the banks or PUBLIC UTILITY COMPANIES or downtown ,were there no qualified applicants of color during those years? Maybe you never thought about this if you are not a person of color. Did the city require a degree for these jobs? If you have never experienced any of these situations then you can say Pastor Wright was wrong. I did not agree with everthing that Pastor Wright said but through my life I have seen and experienced some of his comments. You can not just look at life from your side of the fence you have to consider and acknowledge that others have been affected in a negative way by some of the same situations that you have sailed through by the color of your skin. And we attend church is for spiritual experiences and life experiences also. I live in a major city now and work in the school system, I do my best to expose children to other cultures hoping they will grow up with a understanding and true concern for others no matter what the color of their skin is. This is LIFE as seen through the eyes of THIS person of color.
Who IS the "Obama Girl"?
You are absolutely right! Jeremiah should have stuck to what preachers are supposed to be doing- preaching the word of God. Then he wouldn't be in the trouble he is.
As for never making comments like that in his entire life. ?????????? Does anyone actually believe that?
I, unfortunately, do not know who the Obama Girl is... will have to do some research on that.
The only reason Obama is able to run for president today, or vote, or have any of the rights he has is because of white presidents, and white men who fought and died for the rights that they enjoy so much. He should be thanking "White America." If he doesn't enjoy it here - leave. I'll buy the one way ticket myself.
