Observations -- The Election: What do we really know?

So does Iowa and New Hampshire, as far as the presidential election is concerned, really matter? If you can answer the next two questions, maybe -- but probably not.

First, can anyone explain the Iowa caucus system so that a novice can understand it? I listened to a couple of explanations of it on television, CNN and FOX, and I understood neither of them. In fact, I really wonder whether the folks in Iowa understand it. Perhaps one of them will read this and explain it for us.

Second, doesn't New Hampshire allow independents to vote in the Republican primary? The answer is, yes. Therefore, does the vote there really reflect what Republicans are really thinking. The answer is, no.

Something to think about is this: Romney is the only Republican to have finished high in both Iowa and New Hampshire. Does that mean anything?

What is your assessment of the race so far? Mine is this: We still really know nothing -- only that there are several Republicans and several Democrats still running for President.

What I know is that Romney spent most of his time and money in Iowa, not telling what he wants to do, but why the other guy shouldn't be elected. Why is that? Why would we want to support someone that did more trash talking about the other guy, than talking about why THEY would be perfect for the job.

What if all job interviews were like that? What if you were interviewing for a job and the employer asked you tell them about yourself and you came back and said, let's not talk about me, lets talk about the other guy out in the lobby that didn't wash his hands after he got done using the bathroom??? You wouldn't stand a chance at getting the job. Why not hold politicians to the same standard?
