Observations - Go figure!

Go figure -- Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee is taking heat from some quarters again.
Can you believe Huckabee actually had the nerve to go on national television and actually wish everyone in the nation, "Merry Christmas?" The nerve of that man! Actually, the ad he created wishing a "Merry Christmas" was scheduled to run only in three states -- Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. With the help of national news agencies, however, it ended up going nationwide. Was that a smart move on Huckabee's part? Huckabee says in the ad: "At this time of year, sometimes it's nice to pull aside from all of that [i.e., commercials and talk of politics] and remember that what really matters is the celebration of the birth of Christ. I hope you and your family have a magnificent Christmas season. God bless you and Merry Christmas." Huckabee defended his ad by saying, "If we are so politically correct in this country that a person can't say 'enough of the nonsense with the political attack ads could we pause for a few days and say Merry Christmas to each other,' then we're really, really in trouble as a country." Catholic League president Bill Donahue insists there is a subliminal message to Huckabee's advertisement, asserting that Huckabee is going beyond a simple wish. Perhaps he's correct. And the subliminal message I heard is this, "Focus your attention on the real reason for the season -- Jesus Christ -- not Mike Huckabee. Of that, everyone should be thankful!
