Observations -- What is really important?

I recently read this:
It's so dry from Kennett to Wappapello that Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling, Methodists are using wet-wipes, Presbyterians are giving out rain checks, And Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water.
That is pretty dry!
Makes me curious, though. What do you think of the differences that "separate" the denominations and Protestants from Catholics? Are they valid? Are they simply people too hardheaded to get along? What is really important concerning religion?
This is what I have read is really important: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world" (James 1:27).

Good question- and good answer! I think what is important is what is in your heart. God knows what's in your heart. Your relationship is between the two of you. I enjoy going to church, and enjoy Bible study but the things that make the greatest impact on my relationship with God is my personal relationship with him, and my personal Bible studies, and how I see him move in my life. I agree with 5LittleMonkeys, that too many ministers and teachers are starting to become "politically correct" and afraid to preach the word of God as it is. I also think that is an excellent verse- not to allow yourself to be polluted by the world. I'll have to look that one up and highlight it. This brings up a whole other topic of how much we who claim to be Christians participate in the polluting of the world.
I truly believe that no one religion is right and no one religion is wrong. I believe that everyone has there own path God has laid out before them and if each person follows what God asks of them then they are doing what is right. I believe God has certain and different things that might not be wrong for one person that would be for another and that is why we pray for his guidance in our own lives and try not to worry what we think is right or wrong in others. As the verse above states, "to keep oneself from being polluted by the world". As for what I believe the different religious groups has in commen these days is simple, most, not all, are preaching and teaching what will get you through the day or what a person wants to hear, not what is right or wrong and what will in the end save their soul, maybe they are afraid of losing people in their churches or not gaining new people, I don't know, but I remember a saying I heard years ago that simply went something like this,"If you aren't struggling with any devils then they are probably your friends", I always took that to mean noone is perfect and if you are comfortable thinking that you are, then perhaps you have become complacent in your walk with God.
Let me end by saying wonderful question.
