Who's Amy?Posted Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 2:16 PM
"Amy" is not Britney's long lost friend, and no one is really looking for her. Rather, the key chorus "If you seek Amy" actually serves as a racy, hidden agenda to cleverly (not really) spell out something else... Say it out loud a few times and I think most will understand where Miss Spears was going with this one. "If you seek Amy" ... sounds kind of like ... "eff-you-see-kay me." And folks, when you spell that out into alphabetical letters (which I am choosing to refrain from doing here) it may ruffle your feathers. Believe it! MTV is playing the new video for the song. Heard it this morning as I was flipping to the news channel. However, I have been told radio stations are choosing not to. Not sure if some of our local radio stations have made the same move, but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't ban the song. Why would they? They play everything else under the sun, that most parents would view as inappropriate songs/lyrics. I could name at least five to 10 songs that currently play on the radio, unedited or poorly censored. Shame on radio dj's for not making better song selections, particularly during times of the day when families are more likely to be listening. I wrote about this once before, about a year ago or so, and as time passes, the songs and their content only become worse, not better. Not that I really expected things to improve. The good news is that the majority of younger children will have NO CLUE what this song is really suggesting. I feel it is a little over their heads. Even still, I think broadcasters should put more thought into their choices. I will admit that I like some of Britney's music, and to be quite honest, I don't fully blame her. She is grown and breaking away from the young music scene into the adult music scene, and has been for sometime. Therefore, a song like this is no shock to me. What I think is the real issue, is that radio stations should be held accountable for what they put on the airwaves. Perhaps, rather than banning Britney altogether, they could simply choose another track to promote instead of this one, or play it after-hours, if they feel they must play it at all. What station did you hear it on? As for MTV, thats TV for ya, the wife and I are tired of tv commercials like BK's SpongeBob square pant's song with the girls butts shaking around everywhere. Do you really think a kid would buy a kids meal because of that commercial? Thats right, They Won't, Because we are the ones who pay for it. TV is getting pretty sexual and thats what should be talked about.
Why blame the DJ? It's the Label of the artist that sends the songs out for airplay. It's not like the radio station just goes out and buys the CD and picks what is played. Stations are sent songs before the CD is released and that is what they play, then when the listeners call in and request it, it becomes demand. And again, it's not up to the DJ. It's the program directors choice to let it play if it pass' the FCC (The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions.) And if there is anything that you feel is offencive you can contact the FCC with your complaint.

I am totally fed up with the vulgarity on the airwaves. Maybe I am over the hill, but I remember when Ray Charles' "What'd I say?" was banned in certain localities, and Elvis was televised only from the waist up because of his gyrating hips. At the rate the country is going now, it's only a matter of time before orgies are televised, complete with a subject-appropriate sound track.
I want the moral values of the 50s back!
I hear that david, But I don't believe Britney Spears is any kind of role model and should not be given to kids to listen too. She is one messed up woman, yes women. And thats coming from a motley crue fan..hahaha
I agree with SenathDavid.
Can't help myself.....

HA!
I personally HATE Britney songs... I also agree with SenathDavid.
another prime example of how pg13 is the new rated r.... times are changing... get over it
Change is good when it is change for the better. I personally fail to see anything beneficial about profanity or vulgarity. Anyone out there see any good coming out of Britney or gangsta rap? Anybody like music extolling the "virtues" of the drug culture?
Just an FYI...101.9 Kiss FM has been playing the song, removing the "Kay" Sound...If You SEE Amy...is it really any better?
I am afraid if we dont come together as a Nation, there is no telling how far FCC will allow things to go. Yes, I notice the PG-13 rated were rated R when I was first married and the R rated now were the X rated. Parents really need to screen what their children watch and listen to and especially what they surf on the Internet. Parents, please take time to see what your children are doing and saying.
lol, i had to read that a few times b4 i caught what you were spelling.
Britney spears really isnt the type of influence personally i would want my daughter to inhibit in any way, shape, or form.
Too many downward spirals with her, not a good role model, which these days no one is but its sad to put those subliminal or hidden messages in things, it's not fair to us consumers/fans whatever you wanna call us.... meal ticket should be the term
