Time Out- Did you tune in?Posted Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 7:34 PM
So what are your thoughts on the recent KAIT8 special featuring Kennett?
Personally, aside from the technical difficulties the station experienced, I thought it was great. As always, Kennett's Condoleezza (Jan McElwrath, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce) represented Kennett well. People don't give this lady enough credit! I admire her dedication and commitment to our community, as well as her ability to shake things up in a man's world. Everyone's favorite downtown pharmacist, Keith Mitchell, kept the audience and his interviewer in stitches. Funny guy. Perhaps he chose the wrong career... The Late Show with Keith Mitchell anyone? Speaking of choosing the right career. Fire Chief John Mallott proved once again that Kennett has a lot of things to be proud of and thankful for, including a knowledgeable staff at our local fire department that goes to great lengths to provide our rural community with a sense of security that many areas lack. Hats off to Mallott and his crew for taking such good care of Kennett and showing our neighbors just one aspect of our community that makes living here so great. In addition to sounding off on my blog regarding the KAIT8 LIVE news special, check out our new online video feature called On the Street. There you will see a multimedia section featuring some familiar faces. This week's On the Street question is: What do you like most about living in Kennett? Feel free to respond via a text entry or send us a video submission to dcoronado@dddnews.com and be the next new face on our Web site. Thanks for the kind remarks, Deanna. I didn't see the newscast so I still don't know what actually made it out of the various things they asked me about. I never enjoy seeing myself anyway - always is so me (where's Cindy Crawford when I need her?)
Very nice event even with the very-last-minute changes. Several people were not happy that they missed the Mitchell Park dedication, but due to those last-minute changes we didn't even know for sure when it was going to happen until about 15 minutes before we did it. Congrats Mr. Keith!
Special thanks to Mayor Wheeler and I think the Park Dept. guys for hauling tables and chairs in for the dinner (if anybody else helped - thanks!); to the Ken, Brenda, Rita and Sue at City Hall for tracking the RSVPs; to Sue at the Chamber for the letters and help planning; to Linda and John at the Ely Walker Apts for being such good hosts; and to Channel 8 for recognizing Kennett as a Good Neighbor Community.
