I get by with a little help from my friendsPosted Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 1:04 PM
Sometimes everyone finds that they are in need of something that either they just can't afford or already have and something breaks and you are looking to find a replacement in a hurry. And not a lot of options to shop at. And when you're in the music business things can go south in a flash. And out goes the lights.
The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes when it looks really bad it can actually be a blessing in disguise. See, my band Killing Reality played Sat. June 20th at the American Legion in Qulin MO for the Stars & Stripes Benefit Run and what do you know? Remember me talking about things going south in a flash? Well, Lights Out! I had no more lights. It was Friday the 19th when I discovered this and what do I do? So I pick up the phone and call my friends at Hay's Music in Poplar Bluff and tell them what happened and what I needed, they ask me to hold so they can check on what they had in stock. And they have a great stock of everything a musician could need, so he comes back on the phone and tells me, Yep, I've got two sets of four lights and they both come at the same price to you, Really I say, He says yeah- How's FREE for you? He had to have heard my smile over the phone as I said Thank You. And that is what friends do for one another. They help each other out when they need it. And because this is a benefit they cut me some slack. A Lot Of Slack and really pulled me out of a jam. So I must say, Hay's Music Rocks, and the feeling you get when you visit them is that you're just hanging out with your friends. I hope this makes you stop and think about your friends today because you never know when you will have to get by with a little help from them.
