CASINO AZTAR PRESENTS '80s ROCK SENSATION LOVERBOY
Multi-Platinum Group to perform at the Outdoor Amphitheater on May 24. Legendary '80s rock band Loverboy will take the stage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the Casino Aztar Outdoor Amphitheater. Well known for hits such as "Working For the Weekend," "Lovin' Every Minute of It," "Jump," "Turn Me Loose," and }Heaven In Your Eye" -- a 1986 release written for the movie Top Gun -- Loverboy continues to remain one of the most popular bands of the '80s. "Eighties rock never seems to die," said Lisa McMahan, marketing manager. "That is one reason we are so thrilled to bring Loverboy to Casino Aztar. Anyone who grew up in that decade or listens to music from that time, would find it hard to deny knowing at least some of the hits Loverboy holds to their credit." Launching their career in 1980, Loverboy released a self-titled debut album which sold more than two million copies in the U.S. and more than four million worldwide. They are the only Canadian group to ever receive a record-setting six Juno Awards, Canada 's highest award for a music artist or group. After the success of their debut album, Loverboy went on to release 10 additional albums from 1981 through 2001, all of which have garnered widespread attention in the United States and internationally. The band's popularity has earned them four multi-platinum, one gold and many international gold albums. While the group has experienced years of success on the rock & roll charts and in album sales, the current focus of the band has remained on touring and entertaining fans with their live show. "Loverboy's performance will be our first outdoor concert in the amphitheater for 2008," said McMahan. "It will be an exciting, high-energy concert that we invite everyone, 21 years of age and up, to attend." Limited quantities of complimentary tickets for the Loverboy concert are available at select merchants or by visiting your local Chamber of Commerce.
