BadBones: Singing Christmas carolsPosted Monday, December 3, 2007, at 1:59 PM
I live out in the country and there is not a lot of Trick or Treaters that come around my house during Halloween, nor is there much traffic or many people walking the streets. I don't know how many of you get a chance to do something for others and I don't know if the Spirit of Christmas is with us anymore. See, I was just wondering how many people grab their family and friends, make a list, print them out and then actually go out to sing Christmas Carol's?
I look back at the years and remember going door to door and seeing the faces of people as they opened their doors and saw us standing together singing simple songs such as Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, 12 Day's of Christmas or even one of my favorites, Santa Clause Is Coming To Town. Now the way I look at it, if you are scared that someone will laugh at you for going out in the cold with a group of people holding typing paper and singing Christmas Carol's you're wrong. When you see the first smile you will be ready to head to the next home, business, church, nursing home or wherever there are people, so you can get to see that next smile. I promise it will happen! And you will feel so warm inside. Now one excuse has been, "I Can't Sing A Note." Well, it's not a singing contest so don't worry you'll be a star and you will shine. It's not about being as one; it's a group and you'll be covered if you make a mistake. I've made plenty. And yet the smiles still remain even after a goof up. Why, you ask? It's the deed that makes the smile and the Holiday cheer just makes it that much better. So go out and feel the true holiday spirit and enjoy a few smiles along the way. It's a tradition that needs to be reborn. The kids will love it too. When was the last time you went out to sing Christmas Carols? Would you do it now if you had the chance? Let me know, maybe we can bring something together and make some smiles along the way. Merry Christmas To All, And To All A Great Carol, BadBones.................. Hey, BadBones!
I don't sing very well, but I am very enthusiastic. I think folks from the DDD used to carol around the square - don't know for sure if it was that group, but at the time I worked at the Bank of Kennett and it was really fun to hear them going from place to place.
I miss enough evenings at home due to work or civic activities, but I'm game for an afternoon of caroling. Anybody else?
Hope it is chilly and people have on their ear muffs so it drowns me out. Ha! But I am all for it. I love the idea.
It would be really neat if a group could get together and do something like this.
Where is the sign-up sheet? :)
Jan & Deanna, I will contact you sometime monday of next week. We will need a couple more singers to make a group, so any friends or family that you would like to invite in order to help make this happen is more than welcome to join us.
We will have to pick a day that would be open for everyone that is interested. We will need to make a song list and even maybe a practice session. Of course thats optional.
If there is anyone out there in DDDNews.com Land that is reading this and would like to hook up with us as we show our christmas spirit, Just email me at vnr_69@yahoo.com and give me your name and phone #. I will then contact you with details.
How cute!
