Posted Monday, April 28, at 9:15 AM
I thought it might be nice to start a local band spotlight for all our readers to find out what bands are out there in our area. I'm kicking this weeks featured artist with a band out of Cape. They are one of the hardest working bands out there and they deserve the recognition that they deserve. See this band has just been added to a line up of outstanding bands at a major concert event in Texas.
DRIvIN RAIN is the name of the band that I'm speaking of and you can find more info as well as thier music on thier myspace page www.myspace.com/drivinrain

DRIvIN' RAIN was formed in the winter of 1994 in Cape Girardeau Missouri. Since that time they have become one of the midwest's favorite bands. Doing extensive touring throughout Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, and other midwestern states. They have built a large and loyal following of friends along the way! DRIvIN' RAIN has been featured on several TV music shows, webzines, and national newspapers. Even receiving attention from overseas. DRIvIN' RAIN's song "A Law Against Me" has been featured on Mid-Coast Mania Tv Show. The band's song "2Y2K (Too Young To Kill)" was featured on the CITY OF ROSES ROCKS 2000 CD and the band has been heard on various radio stations around the midwest. It was recorded at POPS in St. Louis and features 11 tracks from the show, and two full color picture discs. In 2004 DRIvIN' RAIN unvailed their next full length CD "DRIvIN' RAIN". BadBones -- 3 Doors Down in PB Every time I hear someone say they wished their favorite band would come to our area I think to myself, "Why?" You will not go buy a ticket if they did! See, 3 Doors Down is coming to Poplar Bluff and that is a major band that is going to be in our local area. The bad part of this is that if this show does not do well then it may close the doors to future bands that would like to play in our area...
BadBones - Campaign songs Right now politicians are running all over the country selling themselves to the American people. All of them have some sort of music for when they enter and exit the stage that they stand upon. So do you think that it would matter what song was played by our next president? If you say no, are you sure about that?...
BadBones: Getting attention Back in the 80's it was all about flyers. If there was a storefront that would allow you to post a flyer on their door, It was there. I am glad that storeowners still feel the same way about helping out local shows. But I also remember how every lamppost on the strip would be decorated with multi-colored paper announcing some type of show or event. ...
BadBones: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year As we head into the holidays with friends and loved ones, we sometimes forget that we have to look out for one another as well. A lot of times we go out and try and have a good time by listening to music at a local bar. There are also the times when we decide that we are having such a good time that we ' realize that we've had too much to drink and we keep on drinking. And that is where responsibility comes in...
BadBones: Singing Christmas carols I live out in the country and there is not a lot of Trick or Treaters that come around my house during Halloween, nor is there much traffic or many people walking the streets. I don't know how many of you get a chance to do something for others and I don't know if the Spirit of Christmas is with us anymore. See, I was just wondering how many people grab their family and friends, make a list, print them out and then actually go out to sing Christmas Carol's?...
BadBones: The cost of music... Hello everyone, I'm getting ready to head out for another night of singing, as I do every weekend, and I got to thinking about what price I pay to be a musician and DJ. See , my first thought tonight was "I hope my vocals hold out," and then was the dreaded thought of having to stop by the gas station to get "Gas, Gum, & Water"...
BadBones: Masters of Music I set here thinking about the top musicians in our area and how it is judged. How is it that we pick the best musician in our area? Do we look at it as money made? Maybe we look at it by fame? Most likely we look at him by the hits he has, right? But does that really tell the whole truth about musicians or are we blind enough to look over the fact that we do not know the background of these musicians, nor do we know the accomplishments that they have had to over come to get to where they are now.. ...
Bad Bones: Meet The Bones Meet The Bones Let me fill you in on who I am and what I am trying to accomplish. For those of you who do not know who I am, I am the administrator of an Internet forum called The Bone Yard. They call me BadBones. The Bone Yard is a place that welcomes bands of all generations to post information about what the bands are doing and where they will be playing. It also lets everyone chat about shows they have seen as well as links to more websites that offer local music information...
