Malden friends were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Martha Mitchell Bedwell of Poplar Bluff. She was the widow of the late Ben Bedwell and the sister of Charles Mitchell of Malden. A memorial service was held in the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff.

A Christmas open house was held a the First United Methodist Church last Saturday afternoon in the fellowship hall. Fifty Nativity sets were on display.

The entire family of Mrs. Edna Juanita Bently enjoyed a family Christmas party in the party room of the Gideon Care Center last week.

The New Prospect Baptist Church congregation enjoyed a holiday dinner following services.

The Malden Junior High School Beta Club attended the tenth annual Jr. Beta Convention at Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. Jackie Wilson of Malden was appointed the state office of President.

Dedication services of God's Treasre Chest Outreach Ministry with Wilbur Porter as church trustee was held at the Malden Community Center on Sunday, Dec. 9.

The Malden Nutrition Center was recently awarded $2,000 in food cards by the Malden Harps grocery store. This is a highly valuable contribution and sincere thanks goes to Harps.

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer McDonald of Germany are announcing the birth of a baby daughter named Harper Daley born November 14 in a Heidelberg, Germany hospital. Spencer is affiliated with an Army Air Base there. He is the son of Terry and Ann McDonald of Malden and he attended the Malden School system.

Allison Harvell of Cape Girardeau and the Kent Library, visited the Malden Historical Museum last week researching information.

Malden's Macedonia Baptist Church held a children's program last Saturday afternoon at 5. Christmas bag treats were distributed. Alvin Clay is the pastor at Macedonia.

Mrs. Barbara Bath has returned after a trip to the Marc Watson family in Sauk City, Wisconsin.

The Bernie Church of Christ is sponsoring a food pantry for Bernie people.
