The Malden Nutrition Center has been awarded a grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation. This money is to help with meals for senior citizens in our Malden community area. Thanks go to Wal-Mart for this generous helping to support the Malden Center. Betty Qualls is the Director of the Malden Center.

A number of guests enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Malden Air Base MAAPS Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. Dr. Frank Nickkell of the Southeast Missouri University Faculty was a special guest. He described plans being formulated for the preservation history of the Malden Air Base. Several instructors for the U.S. Pilots attended. Mr. Earl Hubenthal of Dexter was in attendance. He trained pilots at the Malden Air Base during the 1950's.

Flu shots are being provided at the Malden Wal-Mart store. Kim Baxter, RN, of Steele, Mo., is the nurse on duty and she claims shots will be provided throughout September. Thanks go out to Wal-Mart.

Shane, Holly and children Trevor and Kayliegh of Kelser Air Force Base, Ocean Springs, Ms., fled the storm Isaac and came to Malden with Terry and Ann McDonald.

Johnnie Summers of Junction City, Kansas, spent the weekend in Malden. He attended all the Malden Alumni festivities including private parties. He is a former Malden resident.

Ray and Jack Santie entertained a large crowd of Malden High Alumni friends in their home Thursday evening. A large amount of delectable food graced the dining room table.

Brothers Coyne Edmison and Allen Edmison attended the Malden Alumni weekend festivities Coyne lives in Warr Acres, Ok., and Allen resides in Van Buren, Mo. Their father the late Carl Edmison was an instructor for pilots at the Malden Air Base during the 1950's.

Troy King of Redmond, Oregon spent the weekend in Malden attending the Alumni weekend festivities. Troy resided in Malden when his mother Jaunita King was a teacher in the Malden school.
