Doug Thornton and family presented a gospel song program at the Stokelan Drive Christian Church last Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Joy Waller Gee of Benton, Ky., hosted a lovely birthday party for Mrs. Margaret Jackson last week. A large crowd attended the party in Margaret's room in the Golden Living Center in Malden for Margaret's 94th birthday. Joy is a former Malden resident. Matthew Hampton, the son of Marta and Greg Hampton of Malden has earned the eagle scout rank award within his boy scout troop 76 under the leadership of Alden LeBlanc. The scout award ceremony will be conducted in Cape Girardeau in February. Congratulations to Matthew. Paul and Diane Boylan of Claremont, Fl., visited with Malden friends during the Fourth of July holiday. They are former Malden residents. Jeff and Kara Krupinski attended the National BETA Convention in Greensboro, North Carolina and then vacationed in Myrtle South Carolina Beach. Katharine, Zachary and Paige accompanied their parients. The on-site council of the Malden Senior Center met on Thursday, July 12. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Ross and daughter of Nixa, Mo., spent last weekend with their relatives in Malden. Bingo games with prizes will be played Thursday morning July 26, in the Malden Senior Center beginning at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Betty Welsch, Elizabeth and Emiley have returned home following a holiday in Branson, Mo. Carroll and Vicci Fairchild of Slidell, La., visited with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Brooks last week. Bob Cope of Poplar Bluff visited the Malden Historical Museum last week. He was researching history on his George Sheridan family of the 1903 Malden era. Items are being collected for the BRAVE Women's Shelter at the Malden United Methodist Church. |
