I found a booklet on display at the Malden Historical Museum written by Jane Cooper Stacey of Cape Girardeau. The book is entitled "What does a Museum do?" Jane is well known in Malden, she was a Malden resident in the 1960's.
The Malden Macedonia Baptist Church observed special installation services last Sunday afternoon. Rev. Alvin Clay of Blytheville was installed as the pastor of Macedonia. A dinner and afternoon services were enjoyed by the crowd. A movie for the public was presented by the Spoonerville Baptist Church last Sunday night. An intermission and fellowship was enjoyed during the intermission period. Sister Olinger, a Glennonville native is at present serving as an associated pastor at Saint George's Catholic Church in Van Buren, Mo. She replaces Sister Mary Sheila Higdon, who returned to the Ursuline Home at beautiful Mount Saint Joseph, Ky. "Harold and the Boys" music group presented lively music at the Malden Nutrition site Wednesday at noon. The same day, Bill and Jean Tabor presented fresh squash from their gardent to folks at the center. Thanks to the Tabors ! Mrs. Barbara Bath of Dexter and her daughter Mrs. Mary Jaquett of Oceanview, New Jersey visited friends in Malden last Thursday. They are former Malden residents. Malden folks attended the "Four Tops" concert at the boat in Caruthersville over the weekend. The "Tops" have been international recording artist over the years. Kennett's star Sheryl Crow appeared in a concert at Walker's Bluff last weekend. Lynn Woolverton, Elizabeth Haskins and Sheila Smith of Michigan attended the "Four Tops" concert at the Caruthersville boat Saturday night. |
