Steve Wallace of Malden attended and led a ten member Dunklin County delegation to the Eighth Congressional District Republican Convention held at Poplar Bluff on Saturday, April 21. Over 250 voting members elected a slate of three Mitt Romney supporters to the National Republican Convention to be held in August in Tampa, Florida. The Republican State Convention will be held Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2, in Jefferson City, Missouri to decide the remainder of the Missouri delegates and electors.
~~~~~~ The Malden Girl Scout Troop 412 spent the weekend in Springfield, Missouri where they attended the festivities honoring the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scout organization. The following Scouts attended: Faith Garris, Ally Pfeiffer, Terrah Brewer, Cortney Watson, Madison Ealey, Billie Borschnack, Julie Borschnack, Haven Wills, Hailey Brimingham, Allysa Hoehn, and Madara Hoffman. Leaders and parents accompanied the Scouts and report a very successful and enlightening trip. ~~~~~~ The staff of the Malden Nutrition Center wishes to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the annual fund raising such a huge success. The bake sale netted $740.50 and the quilt netted $1,374 with donations up to $2,500. The Modern Woodmen Association is matching the full amount. Mrs. Liz Bolton made and donated the quilt. Mrs. Linda Stewart was the lucky winner. ~~~~~~ The handsome engagement photo of Ben Barber of Sikeston and Rachel Haney of Sikeston appeared in the Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic last week. ~~~~~~ Don and Dorothy Pascazi of Rolla, Mo., Mrs. Karen Sporer or Wausau, Wisconsin and Mrs. Carole Bobula of Wausau, Wis. visited the Malden Historical Museum last weekend and also visited with Bo and JoAnn McCurter. ~~~~~~ The Family Disaster Supply Kit sheet enclosed in our monthly Malden Board of Public Works statement is a very valuable piece of information. It should be followed by each and every household in Malden. ~~~~~~ Youth Sunday was observed at the First Christian Church last Sunday. The youth took over the service in worship and in song- a very credible performance. ~~~~~~ The youth and leaders of The First Christian Church spent last Saturday participating in a work day at the Mo-Ark Christian Camp near Naylor, Missouri. |
