Morris R. Taylor of Jemenez Pueblo, New Mexico visited with the Malden Historical Museum last week. He is a former Malden resident, and his father, the late Harvey Taylor was the owner and the operator of the Taylor General Merchandise Store on Madison Street in Malden for many years beginning in 1903. His son Harry Taylor opened a grocery store in Malden later on. Morris presented a 1903 ledger from his dad's store to the Malden Historical Museum.
~~~~ Campbell High School senior Morgan Bader visited with the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, last week. Morgan was presented a house resolution by Malden's State Representative Kent Hampton. ~~~~ Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Bennett attended the Hannibal Le Grange-Walnut Ridge, Ark., College baseball game at Walnut Ridge last Saturday. Brandon Bennett a Risco High School graduate is a member of the Hannibal Le Grange baseball team. ~~~~ The annual Easter egg hunt for fifth graders and under will take place Saturday, April 7 at the First Christian Church yard. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. it will be followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. ~~~~ Gertrude Haworth and Barbara Graham spent the weekend with family in Southaven, Ms. ~~~~ Malden's pack 76's weblos, cub scouts performed their first flag retirement ceremony on Saturday March 17, at the home of John and Anita Johnson. The flags were collected from the flag repository a the Malden American Legion. Scouts Phelps, Bryce Console, Adam Johnson, Camden LeBlanc, Trenton Rhine and Bobby Gee. Aulden LeBlanc was the scout master. ~~~~ The Malden Historic Museum on Beckwith Street in Malden has extended hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ~~~~ A large crowd attended the spaghetti supper and silent auction sponsored by the Women's Missionary Society of the Bethany General Baptist Church on Saturday. All proceeds went to the numerous missions of the church. ~~~~ The sanctuary of the Malden United Methodist Church will be open form 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. On good Friday, April 6 for individuals meditation and prayer. The stations of the cross will be posted around the sanctuary. ~~~~ Easter sunrise service will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Holcomb United Methodist Church. ~~~~ Mekacyla, the Davis tradition presented a blue grass singing concert last Saturday evening at the Beechwell General Baptist Church off J Highway. Gary Gelsinger is the pastor at Beechwell. ~~~~ The American Home Care, Inc., presented game hand out sheets to the folks at the Malden Nutrition Center last Thursday. ~~~~ Miss Katherine Krupinski has returned from spring vacation at Northwestern Illinois, University at Evanston, Illinois to visit with her parents Jeff and Kara Krupinski and Zachary and Paige. |
