Malden and area folks were saddened to learn of the recent death of Dr. James Franklin Cooper of Charleston, Mo. He was the brother of Mrs. Jane Stacey of Cape Girardeau, and Fisk, Mo. Lady Mrs. Betty Hearnes of Charleston. Many of us met and knew Cooper when he visited his sister Jane Stacey, then a resident of Malden during the 1960's. Upon his medical degree from Baylor University, Dr. Cooper served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. Later he was the surgeon and medical doctor for the St. Louis Police Department. He also made medical trips to Native American reservations in Arizona, Oklahoma, and Washington State. He was buried in Charleston beside his mother Mrs. A.B. Cooper.
