Sacajawea is s girl scout camp and program center located eight miles north of Cape Girardeau. Mo. The 38 acre property has horseback riding facilities that house twelve horses October through April. The indoor riding arena gives girl scouts the opportunity to build riding skills and knowledge, no matter what the weather.Girl scouts may register for individual horseback riding sessions or for the troop / group session on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays from October though April.

Six cadette girl scouts from troop 412 in Malden attended their first session of horseback training on Saturday, November 19. They learned to groom a horse, saddle a horse and ride. The basic training was under the supervision of experienced girl scout instructors who shared their knowledge and enthusiasm for the equestrian sport.

Attending were Madara Battles, Faith Garris, Billie Borschnack, Kennady Krepps, Allyssa Hoehn, and Julie Borschnack. The troop plans to continue this program at Sacajawea.

A handsome photograph and engagement announcement appeared in last weeks Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic newspaper. The groom to be is Clinton Travis Kilgore of Chattanooga, Tenn., and the bride to be is Xiuming Jin of Beijing, China. The wedding vows will be exchanged in Saint John's Cathedral in Knoxville, Tenn. Clinton is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. William Moorehead of Malden.

The Malden Ministerial Alliance Community Christmas dinner will take place on Saturday, December 17th in the fellowship hall of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden. Serving will be from 11:00 a.m. To 1:00 p.m.

Carrell and Shirley Holzhauser spent Thanksgiving week with their family in Grape Vine, Texas.

Luncheon was served to the family and residents of the late Burl Chester Shaw on Saturday afternoon in the fellowship hall.

Lewis and Pat Scott of Risco spent Thanksgiving with their family at Marble Hill, Mo.

A Christmas Eve Candle light service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Malden Saturday, evening, December 24th at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Mrs. Ina Stevens has returned home following a stay at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
