Mr. Don MacMahon of the sports staff at the Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., spent last weekend with his mother, Mrs. Maxine MacMahon of Clarkton, and also Malden friends. Don is a Clarkton High graduate class of 1964.
~~~~~~~~~ John and Judy Amon have returned home following a trip to Rogers, Ark., where they visited with their family. Mr. and Mrs. Rick Richardson, and Hank and Lori and family. While there the entire family attended commencement exercises at the University of Arkansas. Bud Walton Arena Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark., last weekend. The Amon's granddaughter Megan received a degree in elementary education during the commencement program. ~~~~~~~~~ Stephanie Bristow, a Malden Elementary School teacher appeared on Cape Girardeau KFVS television last week. She was honored by the television as the "Teacher of the Year". ~~~~~~~~~ The Stokeland Drive Nursing and Rehab Center of Malden also appeared on Cape Girardeau KFVS television last week as the result of a fire. There were no injuries and minimal damage. ~~~~~~~~~ Mrs. Gary Karlish has returned home from Memphis where she underwent eye surgery, successfully. ~~~~~~~~~ Stokes Howell of New York City spent last weekend in Malden attending his high school gathering. ~~~~~~~~~ The District Fellowship Ushers meeting was held at the Malden Macedonia Baptist Church last Sunday, June 5th. A fellowship meal followed in the church hall. ~~~~~~~~~ Betty Qualls of the Malden Nutrition Center spent two days last week in Cape Girardeau where she attended meetings of the Southeast Missouri Area Office in Aging. ~~~~~~~~~ Mr. Frank Baker of St. Louis visited the Malden Historic Museum last weekend. ~~~~~~~~~ Sincerest thanks and deep appreciation to everyone who helped make our Salvation Army Fund Raiser the great success it was. It was held at the Malden Youth Museum last Saturday evening. Lillian Dock, Salvation Army, Robert Wake, Salvation Army, and Mary Howell, SADD sponsor of Malden High School. ~~~~~~~~~ Malden wind damage from the severe wind in Malden last Wednesday evening was shown on Cape Girardeau KFVS television last week. ~~~~~~~~~ My forty year old oak tree was blown over and hit my corner roof during the huge wind storm last week. ~~~~~~~~~ Cindy Lango of Sikeston, representing the Southeast Missouri Area on Aging, spent last Thursday at the Malden Nutrition Center. She represents the out reach for rehabilitation of the blind in six Bootheel counties. ~~~~~~~~~ Fred Finney of Maryville, near Knoxville, Tenn., visited with his Malden cousins Sharon Kilmer, Deen and Karen Kilmer Hoehn last week. Fred is a former Cape Girardeau resident. ~~~~~~~~~ The Stokeland Rehab and Nursing home of Malden sponsored a bingo game at the Malden Nutrition Center last Thursday, with prizes. Dan Gough hosted the games. ~~~~~~~~~ Chuck and Mona Chilcutt of Dexter visited with Malden friends last week. Chuck and Mona and family are former Malden residents. While Chuck was the Malden John Deere Dealer. |
