Many Bernie High Basketball team family members and friends attended the Bernie basketball game in the "2A Final Four" held in the "Mizzou Arena" in Columbia Mo., last week.

Mrs. Cindy Folks Lester was among the guest speakers at the Career Fair held in Poplar Bluff last week. Sponsored at the Three Rivers College last Monday, Cindy's subject of discussion was music.

Mrs. Irene Winston of the Chateau Girardeau, in Cape Girardeau visited with Malden friends last Tuesday. Irene is a former long time Gideon resident.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Babcock and family of St. Louis visited with their mother, Mrs. Orville Babcock last week.

The AARP organization will process income tax returns at the Malden Community Center every Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Mitchell have returned home following several months in Mission, Texas.

Danny and Carolyn Mallett of Greenbriar, Ark. Visited in the home of Lillian Dock last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob McDonald of Poplar Bluff spent the weekend with friends in Malden. Bob is a former Malden resident and Chief of Police.

Malden and area residents attended the annual Kenny Rogers Telethon held in Sikeston last week.

Doug and Sally Dirks have returned home following a visit with their family in Kansas City, Mo.

Malden friends were advised of the death of James M. Sturdivant, 68 in Little Rock, Ark., March 19. James was the manager of the Magic Mart while he lived in Malden. His son Mickey Sturdivant graduated from the Malden High School. He is survived by his mother and four children.

Betty Russell is a new resident in Malden, having moved here form Branson. She has relatives here and in Gideon.
