I thought of you...Posted Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 2:42 PM
I came across this piece of writing at a local truck stop. I thought it was interesting that at this certain truck stop they had all these types of writings, sayings, poems, and other forms of literature for any one who came in to read and take along with them.
As I began to read this one, it touched my heart seeing as though I have little nieces and nephews all around me. It's amazing how their little brains are such sponges and hear EVERYTHING and see all the things you do.
I am reminded of a little song we would sing in church; "Oh, be careful little ears what your hear...for the Father up above is looking down with love". The song goes on to say, "Oh be careful
little eyes what you see; Oh be careful little mouth what you say; Oh be careful little feet where you go", etc.
Think about that next time you get cut off by a car and you scream profanities at the car, or next time you are at a ball game and you are yelling terrible things at the referee or opposing team, or how about when a filthy song
comes on the radio or T.V. If you are around children, you may think they aren't listening but they are hearing it all, just the same. With the bad there is the good too. Children learn by example, and you will see
that if you are doing good things, it will rub off on them too. It's just a reminder that everyone needs to take time and be kind to one another.
Below I have attached the writing that I picked up at that local truck stop. I hope you take the time to read it, and hope it touches you the same way it did me.
When you thought I wasn't looking:
I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
I saw you make my favorite cake for me and
I learned that the little things can be special things in life
I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there
is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.
I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend
Who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick,
and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing,
and I learned that those who have something should give it to those who dont.
I felt you kiss me goodnight, and I felt loved and safe.
I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking".
