Things Observed and Overheard on a Busy WeekendPosted Thursday, October 7, 2010, at 9:28 AM
Teenage girls have not changed in recorded history...I overheard this conversation at a local festival..."Why are you with him? He's a butt head" Reply. "...but his hair is just like Justin Bieber!" That blank could be filled in with the name of any heart throb in the last several decades, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, Paul McCartney, David Cassidy or Justin Timberlake. etc. etc...at the ages between 13 to 18 women are all fools.
You really can go home again but it won't be the same and could end up making you feel worse rather than better...even on a sunny fall day.
That guy/girl standing over there with gray in their hair holding the hand of their grandchild...yes, you went to high school with them...yes, you too are that old.
If you are old enough to be wearing orthopedic shoes with your Hollister skinny jeans and T-shirt you should NOT be wearing anything from any clothing store that is remotely cool! Grow up and get some class lady. This does not apply to the a fore mention high school classmate...we are not old enough for ortho shoes...yet.
No matter how many staples you use...when the southeast Missouri wind comes up no amount is enough.
Little girls all look gorgeous in ruffles...tall girls, short girls , skinny, round, smiling, sleeping or tearful girls.
Boots with spike heels don't do well in a park...if you're going to be walking around in said park have enough sense to wear shoes that won't aerate the ground....unless you are trying be helpful.
Christian folks can ROCK with the best of them...but some of them (and not just the older ones) don't want to...
I hope I am still open to enjoying the "new" things when I am in my 70's
The bad news...at some point in a person's life music does indeed get too loud and you no longer understand the lyrics (flashback to 1970 parental tirade "What are those people screaming about?" " I can't understand a thing they are saying!" "You call that music?!") and that thumping bass you loved at concerts of olde makes your ears hurt.
The good news...BUT NOT YET!!!
There is almost nothing better than standing and singing at the top of your lungs in a huge crowd where no one can hear you but God and yourself. At least you hope no one else can hear you...that's what the loud music is for!
For some people the challenge of getting out of the parking lot quickly is more important than getting to see the end of an event. I wonder how many awesome things in life they have missed while they were driving into their driveway 20 minutes before anyone else?
In reference to point number one...boys are not one bit smarter than girls of the same age....just in case you were wondering.
