"We don't like our photos because we look like ourselves." (a somewhat scary thought...I shudder..)
That is what was said to me in a recent conversation with a guy I'll just refer to as Yoda. Yoda is a very wise man. He's been around and seen a lot. Yoda is also the person that inspired my last blog "Modern Day Water Cooler." (thanks for the input by the way...guess i'm just talking to goat lady) He followed the above quote with "The problem is, we don't look the way we think we look." (MIND BOGGLING!) This subject was justified earlier last week as fellow reporter Joshua Payne and myself were out trying to get On the Street videos. (BTW..if you don't know what I'm talking about, check out dddnews.com and scroll to the bottom video player on the main page...) People would tell us they don't do videos. Please don't take my picture. And so on... This got me to thinking. Why do we always perceive ourselves in such a negative manner? (IT'S BECAUSE OF THE FREAKING MEDIA, MAN!!!!...wait...I AM the media...disregard that last thought....) The Native Americans believed that by taking their picture, the photographer was somehow sealing the soul of the unfortunate photographee (is that even a word....) and imprisoning it inside the picture forever (dum-dum-dum...). In a sense, this is true. When we take a photo, or are involved in a photo, it is forever a frozen moment in time in which we cannot change. (did that make any sense?...oh well...deal with it) What are your thoughts on photos and videos. (by not responding, you are justifying my belief that you do not think....ha.) Will you change your thoughts now that you've read my blog. If so, then I have helped you change your life. (You're welcome). Hey, member of the "freakin' media"! Are you hurling out a challenge for all your ...do I dare say "readers"? Or is this going to be another dialogue between the two of us??
(I need to check out how to do those neat italics, by the way...)
I have no problem with my picture being taken, as long as it isn't a side view. I really hate those. But, what I want to ask is --- "Who is that old lady in my clothes??" And "Why don't my clothes look good on me anymore??"
As BadBones I love my pic taken, that just say's people are intersted, as Don Turner I hate my pic taken because that is when I'm not prepared to look good,,,hahaha j/k..... I'm a camera hog..
I am guilty of not wanting my picture taken too often, I would rather be behind the camera. But if you walk into my office or home you would probably think otherwise. All of my pictures displayed have me in them. I think in a way, we all enjoy seeing ourselves as someone else does.
Personally, it's a day to day thing for me. Sometimes I care. Sometimes I don't. Thanks for the comments so far.
Well, I've always been one to yell, PICK ME, PICK ME!!! Oh Wait! Wrong pic eh?...haha
If I had to pick a side I am going with the Native Americans because I respect my elders. That is true about the people declining videos, everyone should say yes to the videos they are different than pictures. The native americans did not say anything about video.
People, please learn the proper use of the apostrophe! Example: Bad bones... "that just "say's" people are... apostrophe used incorrectly!
Hey semo, If your going to talk about my spelling then maybe you should take a long look at my name and you will see that there is no space and Two Capital B's Example: Bad bones. How's that apostrophe for ya!!!!!!!!!!! And here's "a" ?few :more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't mind my pic being taken. If is has my baby girls in it also, then I don't care. When I was in High School, we didn't miss a "photo op" at all. I think I have a few pics of you somewhere George! You now how us Senath-Hornersville people are. We have pics of everyone it seems like.
Do I know you x4farmers....gimme a hint
I don't mind having my picture taken. I like to look back and see how I have changed over the years. I'm not always pleased with the outcome but that is just part of life.
